We really enjoyed our morning of coffee and scones at the Domes.
We'd heard of the Sat. morning market and wanted to check it out.
It doesn't take long to walk the circle of vendors...everything from elk jerky to organically grown veggies.
The best part is the model trains running in one dome. There was a coffee vendor making excellent brew by the cup, and some sinfully good greek pastry choices.
We enjoyed the late breakfast snack, watched the trains and people go by, and enjoyed the warm sun on an otherwise very chilly day.
Parked on the street, spent about 90 minutes overall, which was about right.

Thank Tom Z

We have visited the Domes many times with our family over the years. While not the most modern facility by any means, especially in the winter, it is a great break from the cold.

We went on a Saturday and the parking situation was awful. Spots are small and due to he farmers market being held, there was hardly a spot to be found at 9:05am. We had planned to buy a membership for our family, so had our form filled out with our check in hand. We were carrying a dress for our daughter to wear. We wanted to take a few pictures of her but as the weather was too cold for her to wear it outside, we carried it in. We were stopped by a very rude staff member and were told that if we were going to take ANY pictures, we had to pay an additional $61 for a permit to do so. Mind you - we already had a $50 check written out for our membership. I assured him we were not professional photographers, were not making any money on the pictures - just came to enjoy the plants with our kids, let our youngest check out the trains and yes - take some pictures during our time there. I completely understand that policy for weddings, senior pictures - things like that where there are professional photographers using the space for a profit. Not at all the case today.

We ripped up our membership application and our check and will not return. Be warned - I don't know if this is something new they are clamping down on but don't go there expecting to take pictures and not pay for the "privilege" of doing so. We left and promptly went to the Zoo were we were greeted by several cheery employees, zookeepers and volunteers.

The Domes are a staple for me in the winter. Just about every February I need to have my "green therapy". Tired of the cold, grey snowy weather. Come inside and experience the outdoors. The lush humid Tropical Dome, the warm arid Desert Dome or the colorful fragrant Show Dome. Take off your coat and remember what summer is like. Highly recommend it to pick up your spirits during the long winter months.

It's a gem in the city. Get up close to plants that you'd have to cross the world to see! Lots of information to hand, too.

I liked the place a lot. Really experienced different types of atmosphere - with so many types of plants, flowers and leaves. I just read and read and enjoyed so many unknowns. There is one section, which was really good for little kids, my 2 yrs liked it.
