The Mitchell Park Domes are a great place to take your young children during the winter to get some respite from the winter blahs. My 21 month old granddaughter had a blast! The show dome had a trains and circus theme that was just the thing to keep her interest. There were members of the local train club there to interact with the children and they had a thomas the tank engine that the children could actually touch. I cant tell you how many laps she made around that dome, but we finally had to scoup her up and take her home, otherwise she would still be there!

These domes are a MKE tradition. We visited during the Chinese New Year celebration. Very busy! The domes are well-maintained with alot of interesting foliage to observe. An ideal place for birthdays, weddings, photos, etc. Will eventually visit during the Thursday night colored domes with music.

Took a quick trip to Milwaukee to visit the Domes. They seemed interesting online. There is plenty of free parking at the Domes.

The Domes overall are very large from the outside. There is a small fee to get in 5 or $6.
The lobby area is very nice. There are tables and chairs where you can eat a snack or rest. There is no coat check in but a coat rack-self serve. Don't leave your valuables in your jacket.. Since you are at your own risk to hanging your own jacket. There are 3 Domes. The first one is where all the special exhibits take place. This month they have trains on display. It was a tad bit crowded because they were giving free rides to kids on a little dinky train. Overrun by strollers, parents, grandparents , and toddlers running everywhere.

The 2nd dome is modeled after a desert- lots of cacti.... And the 3rd dome is tropical. It very hot and humid in that one.

Overall not much to visit there. I was there to take photographs. There are little to no flowers to photograph even in the tropical dome. Mostly just tropical pants. Kind of disappointing. I've been to other conservatories that have lots more flowers and color.

It was an interesting visit. Took about 1.-1.5 hrs. Overall would not visit again.
I was dissapointed in lack of flowers and variety. For a such a big space so little to see.

The tropical dome is a wonder for everyone. The information now provided is even more extensive. The desert dome is also great. The seasonal dome is good. Past years Holiday dome has been better but the 2012 Holiday dome was enjoyed..

We went while the Christmas decorations were still up and it is so beautiful. There are many different attractions during the year and we will be going back for the trains. It's a nice place to have a seat on one of the benches and take in all the beautiful plantings.
