“Great Legofest Package with Waterpark at MKE Hilton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

Booked a $169 rate at the downtown Hilton for Sat June 16. Considering that the hotel was completely booked with a Racing event and at least three weddings, we were very happy with all the great service and attention to detail by the Hilton Staff.

I am a former Gold HHonors Member but was flying basic HHonors for this trip. We were given our Legofest tickets at 9am and were later given an somewhat early 2pm check in. I was asked if we'd be OK with a "slightly larger" accessible room. I said yes, but when I got into the pretty small room, with an accessible shower and no tub, I decided to go back and get a room change. The staff were cool and placed us in a similar sized room, with a tub.

The package include slightly reduced parking. That was a nice benefit - cheaper parking is in the area but its nice to be able to wheel right from the 2nd floor lobby, down the hall and into the parking garage.

This is a nice Hilton, reminscent in style and size to the Hilton on S. Michigan in Chicago.

The room and really nice linens with a decent view of the city.

No refrigerators in the room, but each floor did have an ice machine. THe machines were in little rooms, so their noise didn't invade the hallway/rooms too much.

We did stop by the waterpark twice. The fee for this was included in the package. It was very packed, and it seemed pretty rowdy. No real pool, but lots of water slides and area for kids to ramble in. Two zero depth areas for toddlers to try out. The morning crowd, 9am, was much nicer. There is a bar upstairs that overlooks the waterpark. I'd say this attraction is probably best for elementary and middle school kids. The tables around the pool fill up fast, but overall about what you'd expect for a waterpark.

Didn't eat at the hotel, but for a brief family trip, it was an overall great experience.

Room Tip: Mention your HHonors status. Didn't help me, but the place was booked....

The lobby area in the hotel is extremely impressive as befits a grand old hotel. Check in was smooth and efficient, although we were not given sufficient breakfast vouchers for our 5 nights. This was easily remedied on day 3.
As also befits a grand old hotel, the rooms are small, making it difficult to move around the desk and dressing table areas and the walls and connecting doors do not provide adequate sound proofing. We could hear our neighbours quite clearly. The bathroom was accessed via the dressing/vanity sink area and had a toilet and bathtub with shower over. Having the sink in a separate room to the bath/toilet is unusual and is not especially convenient. The room was clean and had everything you could need.
The hotel is centrally located,so it is great for business or pleasure. Our room overlooked the square
Due to my husband's Hilton Honours status, we were able to access the Club Lounge for breakfast as well as evening canapes and happy hour. The Lounge is large and reminiscent of an old fashioned gentlemen's club. Special thanks to Marques, the bar tender, who was informative, friendly and entertaining. We also enjoyed the nightly Final Jeopardy Quiz with Rod.
The hotel also has a well equipped gym, but the 5lb hand weights were missing. Wedid not eat in the hotel's restaurant, but the Miller Time bar has a good atmosphere and appears to be extremely popular.

Dear Racoon12345 -

Thank you very much for great comments regarding our associates Marques and Rod! I will be sure to share with them that you enjoyed their conversation! Our Vanity bathrooms with the sink ourside of the tub and toilet are generally preferred as they are larger than some of our hotel rooms with the bathroom in just one room! Please let me know if you are returning and I will ensure we have the correct room for you!

Now for only 100 bucks It was well worth it to stay there. The rooms were nice but not blow you away amazing. But it is in the center of town and were able to walk to the restaurants around town. They made sure our bags go to our rooms. And the bar in the hotel was nice without being to expensive. My only complaint was the parking. They told us we could park across the street for 10 dollars for the two days, but then said the next morning we would have a ticket for how much we owed for staying over night. No one could give us a clear answer so we just parked in the hotel parking garage for the 24 dollars. I wouldn't give this hotel the 5 stars others do but yes, I would stay here again.

Dear RIfratboy -

Thank you very much for choosing to be our guest! We highly recommend that our guests park with us at the Hilton Milwaukee as we agree that the parking lot across the street is not the most convinent place to park while staying at our hotel.

I look forward to your return to the Hilton Milwaukee to ensure that we can exceed your expectations!

My first business trip to Milwaukee was a great one because of this hotel. Great customer service, good room service menu and excellent bar. I didn't even have to miss my morning Starbucks. Great price, clean room and I'll never hesitate to come back.

The facade and public areas of this hotel are steeped with old world charm. Service was outstanding from the front desk, bellmen and doorman. Rooms were comfortable, bedding nice. Bath area was a little small and no fan in the shower room, so after two showers the humidity was high. Airconditioning was quiet.
Pub was ok, food just ok. The breakfast bar in the other restaurant was nice, we didn't eat lunch there as all they had was a buffet.
Convenient location!

Dear Dmauser -

Thank you very much for the review of the Hilton Milwaukee! When you return please request a room in our 2001 addition, the West Wing - these rooms feature larger bathrooms as well as wired internet, (the entire hotel does have wireless, for a nominal fee).

Our Cafe from time to time will offer a buffet over the lunch and dinner hours for conventions that are in Milwaukee. Our Miller Time Pub is a fantastic option should you want a burger, soup or salad!

I look forward to your return!

I've only been to this hotel for business trips, but the atmosphere makes it a pleasure every time! I love that they've kept the historical integrity while providing updated accomodations. My rooms have always been spacious and immaculate. The bathrooms in the "main hall" rooms are a bit cramped (if you want a bigger one, see if a corner room is available - had one of those the last time I was there and it was twice the size). I have found the staff to go beyond helpful to friendly and engaging. It's location is perfect - especially if you like to take a brief walk to dinner.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are larger.
