“Nice decor for drinks with friends but don't plan on eating”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

This restaurant has an amazing decor - very 'chic', but that's about it! I did not order any cocktails with my meal so this place may very well be a great place to go for drinks with friends because of the atmosphere but definitely DO NOT go for the food. What a huge disapointment! I spent $30 on my meal and left hungry - the amount of food I was served wasn't enough for a small appetizer much less a main course meal! I was with 3 other people and all 4 meals that were served were very much lacking in portion size and all had extremely poor presentation. Very limited menu - very few choices for sushi with no variety at all. For a place that advertises sushi this is definitely the worst menu I've seen - and I've seen quite a few. I actually had to special order ginger and wasabi for my sushi as it was served without either and was charged extra for both! Kind of like being charged $2 extra for catsup at a burger joint! I will definitely not go here to eat again.

“Beautiful, big city feel + BIG SALT”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Beautiful, creative interior design with an exciting "big city" ambiance. The food presentation was an overall A+, and most of the items we ordered were excellent ... except... there was one glaring problem. All of the menu items we sampled (except for the Edamame, of course) were simply TOO SALTY!... it overpowered the delicate flavors that were begging to be savored. Service was excellent and everything was well-priced. We will definitely go back.

“Save yourself and your money - don't go!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

What a huge disappointment! The best thing about our meal was the steamed edamame. They were fresh, hot and delicious. The rest of the food was tasteless, if even present. We ordered the lobster pot stickers and they were awful. No lobster as far as we could tell. There were three minuscule fried dumplings on this huge plate. The spicy tuna roll lacked both tuna and spice. The pineapple chicken was a joke! Teeny diced pieces of canned pineapple, some pineapple foam (yech) and a braised chicken part (unidentifiable). Presentation was so lacking we found ourselves laughing when the next dish arrived. Our server was a delight but the entire experience was an overpriced waste of time and money. DON'T GO!

One of the few great places for sushi in Milwaukee! It's either this Saki-Tumi or Benihanna! (In Milwaukee)

“A Good Time”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

It's a nice place to meet friends or enjoy a couples night out. At times, the noise level can get very elevated, and seating may be too close for comfort. But it's all a part of the overall experience.

Small plate offerings makes sharing a fun option. Thursday night is the best time to venture to this hot spot as the menu offers a greater varity of sushi and hand rolls at $5 per order. This a great deal that doesn't sacrifice the portion size.

The Tiger Rolls are some of the best that I've ever had. Pair it with the sake sparkling wine which is offered on the menu, this makes for a delightful combination of pure happiness.

Because Umami Moto is located on one of the few hip streets in the city, parking is very limited, but valet is available and highly recommended.
