Had a very informative tour. We had no idea the intricacies of brewing.
Learned a lot. Tour provides you with plenty of tasting and small glass to keep.

Beer - This is your typical production facility with a tap room in front. They have a wide variety of flavorful brews that are ALL outstanding! While a pilsner fan, I still have to savor their Capital Pilsner, but have really enjoyed the Oktoberfest, Wisconsin Amber and the Maibock. They have the art and science of beer brewing nailed. I don't believe you can go wrong with ANY of their beers, no matter what flavor or type you prefer.

Brewery - The Brewery itself is located in a non-descript location and seems fairly uninviting from the outside, especially during the winter (that's when I first arrived at their door). However, when I returned in Spring earlier this year, their 'biergarten' was open and boy, was there a party. I believe that was a Thursday and was packed with cyclists replenishing carbs after an evening ride! I think they may be sponsoring a bike club as some folks had Capital Brewery jerseys on.

Food: The not so good part - they stand true to their passion of brewing the best beer, so no food is served. However, they do have BYOB (bring your own burger! or pizza for that matter) and also have a food truck that serves the best mozzarella sandwiches I have ever had!

Ambience - All spring, summer and fall they have their beer garden open with taps on the patio, picnic tables under a huge tent. Opposite to the patio bar there is a stage that has a band playing. There is a general aura of happiness in the air and of course, 'spirits are high'! It is just a place you want to keep coming back to...but in winter they close down the garden and move the beer indoor.

See you here next time!

I visited this brewery with a group of ladies in town with our husbands for a meeting. We were greeted by a young man who took us to the gift shop to get our tasting glasses and three bottle caps which could be exchanged for beer samples. We took a quick tour of the brewery before ending up at the long outside bar for our tasting. We learned some interesting things about beer brewing but the young man seemed a bit inexperienced in leading a tour of ladies over 50. We all enjoyed the beer especially the State lager, a nice dark beer with a smooth taste. Not the fanciest place to visit but a nice diversion. P.S. You get to keep the tasting glass! :)

Had been here twice before, but first time on a Friday night featuring live band. Lots of people, great atmosphere and brews. Luckily we brought our own chairs because we didn't arrive early and seating was full. Tap beers for $4, good selection from Capital and two guest breweries. We have made this an annual stop when we come through town on vacation. Bring your own food/snacks in.
