“Great local food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2010

If you are in the Mequon area and are tired of chain restaurants give the Landmark in Mequon a try. We dined there on a Saturday night this July based on a tripadvisor review and were very pleased. It is located on the far west side of town in a historic area called Freistadt. The ambiance is pure Wisconsin supper club but the service and food are wonderful. We had the steak sandwiches and they were excellent. Save some room for dessert because they have a whole list of homemade specials. It's not fancy and kids are welcome. Say "Hi" to Cindy if you go. She couldn't believe that her place was reviewed on the internet.

“The Landmark is Mequon's best kept secret!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2010

Chris & her daughers (Amy & Kelly) and son Christoper serve homemade food 6 days each week. Daily specials are excellent! Meatloaf, stuffed pepper, & chicken stroganoff are 3 of our favorite choices. My huband & I are lifelong WI residents where Friday Fish Fry is a must. We've decided that there isn't a better perch fry in the State. Chris is responsible for the specials daily and deserts (delicious & a bargain!), Amy the soups & Kelly the superb service. Christoper keeps the kitchen moving. Part of Mequon's 1839 Freistadt settlment, the Landmark cannot be beat. Customers are always treated like friends.

“Great Homemade Soups and Desserts and Best Fish Fry in Mequon...Perhaps Ozaukee County”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2010

The Landmark is an old bar in a little Pomeranian/German Lutheran settlement in west Mequon. Much of the fodd is standard bar fare, and it has a bar atmoshphere. Normally, my wife and I would not like this kind of place much. We do not drink.

Yet, this is one of our favorite places. The homemade soups taste like Mom made (okay, maybe better) and change daily. The steak sandwich is delcious and is great value (ask for friend onions), the burgers are very good and the firies are excellent, crispy and salty. Mosyt days Chris or the cook make a special that should not be missed (e.g., perfect5ly stuffed green peppers). But the coup de gras are the dessserts - homemade pies and cakes to die for. This is one place where dessert cannot be missed.

The Landmark is in Wisconsin, and you cannot rate a neighborhood restaurant without addressing its fish fry. The Landmark's perch is as good as it gets. Try the pan fried - fresh, golden brown with a very light coating and flaky interior. It comes with fries and a cup of excellent slaw. My wife is a tarter sauce aficianado and beliwves the Landmark's is perfect. If you are hungry, start with a cup of the hearty New England clam chowder (but save room for dessert).

Chris and her daughters bartend and serve the food. The place can get busy, particularly on Fridays for their fish fry, but they work hard to give good service, and the food and the value are worth the wait.

Not fancy. Just good food.
