This is the most beautifully restored B&B we have stayed at. The attention to period detail is amazing, with quality antiques, wallpaper, etc. But the bathrooms are state of the art! Ours (the Doctor's Study) had a double walk in shower with body spray plus a double whirlpool. Cushy bathrobes are also provided. The beds were a bit too soft for me, but this is a matter of personal preference. Breakfast was also the best we have had at a B&B. Some other places go over the top with gooey sweet heavy brunch dishes. But here, though there was plenty of food, the emphasis was on freshness and taste. This one had a large, perfectly baked muffin, delicious bacon, an egg in a potato nest, and fresh fruit. Some reviewers on another site mentioned that the breakfast room was set up with individual tables rather than family style. We actually prefer this, as more private and romantic.Coffee available all the time is another nice touch. Our only quibble was that the owners were not on hand to greet us when we arrived. A note was left on the door directing us to our room. We did not meet the owner until the next morning at breakfast. We felt a bit shortchanged, as others had written in the guestbook about how helpful she had been with suggestions for what to do and where to eat in the area, etc. Also, others had written about the library of DVDs, which we never managed to find. We know that unexpected things come up and owners can't always be on hand, but we were a bit surprised that no mention was made of it, no "I hope you were able to find everything," etc. Otherwise, a great place for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: The Doctor's Study is made up of a small entryway (with a desk which we used for our laptop,) a small bedroom, and a fantastic two-room bathroom. It's on the first floor, so we had to keep the shades drawn. Otherwise a very private room, tucked away off the main entrance. TV is high on the wall. I peeked into another first floor room, Clara's Veranda, which had a larger, airier bedroom but not as spectacular a bathroom. Clara's Veranda opens onto the porch, so has a lovely, garden feel. (Though the garden itself could use some attention!)

I was immediately taken by this B&B; called a friend and she checked it out on the web and made a reservation for next month!! The Walking Iron is a gem of a place tucked in the cute little town of Mazonmanie, WI. Close to Spring Green, wineries, etc. Scenic rides through the countryside. We stayed in the room called "The Doctor's Suite" which was furnished so comfortably. The double shower and whirlpool tub was a delight. Had a chance to peek in all the rooms and found each of them enchanting. Cozy library and inviting dining room. Breakfast is outstanding! Don't miss the opportunity to stay at this reasonably priced B&B, you won't be disappointed. We are making plans to go back!!

This B and B is absolutely lovely! Karisa does everything in her power to make you cozy, comfy and well fed at breakfast. As she told us, "I will feed you and make your bed, but I will NOT give you a massage!" when we asked he if she does the massages she can arrange for you! She and her hubby David went all out to refurnish this former physician residence. Dinner at the Green Acres Supper Club was great, too! Thanks, Karisa and David!

My husband and I stayed at the Walking Iron Bed and Breakfast for our 2nd year anniversary. This was our second bed and breakfast and we had high expectations! I would have to say our expectations were met! The house is beautifully restored and in a nice quiet town. The inn keepers are very friendly and make a really good breakfast! We really enjoyed our room. We loved the decor, whirlpool, bathroom and the shower with the double shower heads! The sauna was great to relax in. I loved the upstairs library also. My only complaint would have to be the dining room tables. I would rather have a large Victorian table to dine with others than the two separate 4 tops. Thank you for the wonderful stay and we WILL be back!
