Description: Rookies Food & Spirits is the perfect place for the whole family. In addition to the bar and dining areas, Rookies features an authentic Wiffle ball field with an attached clubhouse that’s fantastic for birthdays, reunions, graduation parties, and other events. If you’re a sports fan, you won’t find a better place to watch all the games, local and national. We’re stocked with 29 TV screens; there’s not a bad seat in the house. Over 6,000 baseball cards cover the walls of the men’s room, and autographed memorabilia covers nearly every other square inch of the restaurant and bar, floor to ceiling. Owner Steve Schmitt, also owner of The Shoe Box and the Madison Mallards baseball team, has filled Rookies with his passion for sports in the form of the best collection of sports memorabilia this side of Cooperstown. Much of the memorabilia was donated and autographed by Steve’s personal friends. You won’t believe the collection until you see it. Whether you’re a sports fan, passionate about top-quality down-home American cooking, or just in the mood to have a drink with the friendliest staff in Wisconsin, Rookies has what you’re looking for. Stop by the best sports shrine in the area for a hot meal and a cold beer.

“Awesome atmosphere, unique, great for Baseball Fans!”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We were up at Sauk City for the 11 year old State Baseball Tournament and decided to make the short trip to Rookies. It is a fun place, jam packed with sports memorabilia. The food was good, service was great as well. I thought the prices were reasonable. Had the ceasar wrap for $6.99, kids meals are $4.99. They have an awesome whiffle ball field in the back which can be rented out for birthdays or groups. Looks like fun!

“Great sports memorabilia; disappointing food”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

We've stopped at Rookies several times and are always fascinated by the incredible collections and displays of sports cards, photos, bats, balls, etc., mostly autographed. In the past, we generally enjoyed the food, but on our most recent visit, we were quite disappointed. The meatloaf special and the pulled pork sandwich both were very dry and rather tasteless. Hamburger was reasonably good. Hopefully, the quality of the food can be revived to match the quality of the collections on display.

“Great Food, Fun atmosphere!”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Service was quick, food was great-memorable burger and fries, but what was really impressive was the clam chowder. We bought a quart of it to go. Even if you are not much of a sports nut, you can't help by be impressed with the owner, Steve Schmitt's extensive collection of sports memorabilia.

“Love Rookies!”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Rookies is always a treat to visit. You can either watch some of the games being broadcast on the multiple TVs, or marvel at the quantity and quality of sports memoribilia around the room (and rest rooms).
We've eaten at Rookies many times over the years and the food is always top notch, as is the wait staff. They are always friendly and attentive.
They even have a small baseball diamond that you're able to play a small game one. Great for kids!!

“Wonderful Place For Sport's Nuts”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

First help yourself to a bowl of popcorn. The food is good and beer selection okay but the Sport Memorabilia is outstanding.
