“What's the big deal?”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Although I live in upstate NY, my wife is from Marinette, WI. I was told by several people that we need to go to Mickey-Lu's. I still can't figure out why. Tiny little textureless burgers hidden by tasteless buns. Even the much raved about malt was only so-so, and the prices were way to high for the quantity and quality of food. Even Culver's right down the street is a much better burger, and they don't impress me either.

I'm all for nostalgia, but can it really cloud your judgement that badly. This isn't good food, and this isn't an "experience" people! It's a far less than average burger in a side-of-the-road shack.

“Favorite Burger Joint For Decades!”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Mickey-Lu's has been around forever and it never seems to change.....and that is a good thing! You immediately get a 50's family-diner-vibe upon entering this place. The words "fancy" and "upscale" have never been uttered in Mickey-Lu's and hopefully never will be. The burgers are triple ground and tasty as all get-out. Each burger is loaded with butter and placed on a Zemal roll (basically, a hard crusted bun). The burgers come to your table wrapped in thin white paper and they will ooze butter upon biting into them. WARNING! This place is NOT for people on a diet or who are watching their cholesterol levels! In addition to the great burgers, Mickey-Lu's pumps out a never-ending stream of fantastic malts. The malt station ususally looks like a bomb made out of ice cream, chocolate syrup, spilled milk, malt syrup, strawberry, and pineapple, has exploded and you are at ground zero. I view it as the price one must pay for ordering something that is so good and in such high demand it must be made quickly with little regard for collateral damage. FYI......Mickey-Lu's is NOT a barbecue joint despite the signs outside. (They do cook their burgers over an in-house charcoal grill). Secondly, only a rookie would ask for french fries at Mickey-Lu's. Bon Appetit. :0)

“Great little burgers”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

Step back in time with this adorable little grill. Open fire pit inside broil burgers and buns. Waitresses dressed in waitress outfits from the diner age. Jute box on the table top. Malts looked great. Chips are 50 cents. Total meal for two pele, less than $7.00

“Best burgers and malts for miles!”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

This place had the best hamburgers in 1969 and still does. We had chocolate malts for $3.00 that were the best! I love the double cheeseburgers... melt in you mouth. Service is great! It is a an old fashion diner that I love!

“Burgers have shrunk”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

I use to haunt this place as a teen. As an adult coming back, the burgers have sure gotten small. Taste was great but more bun than burger. Given the shrinkage the price should have dropped as well!
