My friend and I visited Vino on a busy Saturday evening. It was just perfect. The outdoor games made the inevitable wait much more fun. The bartenders let you sample the wines, so that you could pick the best option for your palate. There was tractor rides around the grounds, a small market of local vendors, and a giant fire to warm up by later.

The food was yummy! They start you off with fresh bread with balsamic and olive oil. Then it's on to appetizers and main courses. I suggest the specials - they're always perfect.

Definitely go - but remember - plan to spend some time waiting if you don't show up at 4p. We showed up at 5:45 and waited over three hours. But, it was totally worth it :)

We celebrated Autumn birthdays with our entire family (8mos. to 64 years old) this past Saturday. What a wonderful time for all of us. We had reservations at 3 pm but came early to enjoy the valley. Shopping for pumpkins, playing the bean bag game, sampling WI cheese, sitting by the bonfire and taking a wagon ride, all entertained us until dinner. Our food was outstanding and we are thinking of doing this again for our extended family Christmas.

We've been here a few times when we are in the area, actually whenever we are in the area we try and stop. The food is out of this world, great wine, and the service is always the best. We were there this past weekend and it was a bit windy and on the chilly side, they were more than happy to seat us in the only table that had some sun on it. The atmosphere is always the best if you like an outdoor setting, beautiful surroundings in the Rush River valley and close to Maiden Rock and the Mississippi River and a trip up or down the Great River Road is special this time of year.

We went to Vino on a beautiful Saturday summer evening. We arrived early and planned to wait, which we did, but had time to enjoy the weather the beautiful outdoor bar that was put in last year and our friends company. We were warned of a 90 minute wait and 90 minutes was quite accurate. We enjoyed the white wine, each in our party of seven tried something different. Some really liked their meals, others loved what they ordered. The ravioli was amazing as were the nacho appetizers and the fire-grilled pizza. Come early and plan to wait - bring a warm sweater because when the sun drops below the hill the temperature drops - they do have propane heaters that they fire up but it can get quite chilly.

Our party of four arrived on a busy Saturday night. We didn't mind waiting for a table because we were all in a great mood and the location was gorgeous. After about an hour and a half, we were seated, placed our pizza order, and began our wait. After over an hour, the server apologetically told us that our food was picked up by another server and given to another table, so we would have to wait until they remade our order. While all this was going on, we were trying to carry on a conversation, but the sound system was so loud that we could barely hear one another across the table. We sat glumly, then flagged down the server and asked if we could get some soda. The server came back and plunked down four plastic bottles of pop . . . no ice or cups. Finally, she brought our pizzas and they were stone cold, as if they had been sitting in a box on the kitchen table for an hour and a half. We were starving and tired, so we ate it anyway. We were grateful that the vocalist went on break . . . but then the owner grabbed the microphone and began a monologue about the restaurant, wandering around the dining area, shoving the microphone in people's faces, trying to get people to talk or sing. Finally some woman picked up the mike and sang an entire song to her nephew, who appeared to be about 13 years old and terribly embarrassed (I think the song might have been "Hey, Big Spender"). We paid our bill and escaped what should have been a beautiful dinner but somehow devolved into cold pizza, pop in plastic bottles, and bad karaoke. (Incidentally, I e-mailed the restaurant about this experience the next day and got no response.)
