This hotel is great! I suggest getting the deluxe suite that comes with it's own jacuzzi, hammock and ocean view. The room was in great condition and beautifully decorated. Fresh flowers on the bed each morning and comfortable robes provided. Things do shut down early here, but you get used to waking up early and by the end of they day you are tired and ready to fall asleep!
Note: This hotel can be difficult to get to. The signs are a bit sporadic so I recommend getting a GPS or an international data plan for your phone. There will most likely be a few cows in the road as well, so keep an eye for them! You will need a 4 wheel drive to get there. Lots of potholes and steep inclines. Once you arrive though, you will realize how worth it, it is. The food is delicious (not a lot of food options around). The drinks are delicious - pina coladas, best I've ever had. They around about $12 a pop though - NYC prices basically.
The infinity pool is great and has views of the ocean. You can walked down some stairs to the beach. Takes about 10 minutes. The beach itself is great. Desolate, black sand. The resort feels very exclusive and I hardly saw any other guests.
The staff - I can't tell you how great they are. They will ensure you are happy with your stay and help you with directions. Note that the town itself - Islita is TINY. They only have one restaurant and it's nothing fancy. We traveled north to Samara which was our favorite beach - only beach we found with beds and bars by the water. Playa de Corillo, Playa Bongo, and Playa de Coyote are all within an hours drive north or south and great to visit! It is about a 5 hour drive to San Juan so be prepared for that as well!
Have fun! PS there is lightening every night during the rainy season. Rain didn't affect us too much. It sprinkled for a few hours here and there, but the lightening is awesome to watch!
