We were in town to visit family and wanted to get some good biking in while we were there. And who doesn't love Wisconsin beer? This B&B was located just a block away from the Drumlin Glacial State Trail which is a rails-to-trail project. Our hostess was possibly the most accomodating and thoughtful person we have come across at a B&B. She provides a bike rack in a covered and secure setting which is rare as we usually have to leave our bikes out in the rain. We are both on Weight Watchers and she attempted to accomdate us at breakfast with healthier choices. She was just too good of a cook though and we were too weak. LOL Delicious breakfast served on Depression Glass ware.
On to our bedroom. We chose the biggest room because we had a lot of stuff with us and absolutely loved our choice. A huge bathroom that was connected via the original closet. Just the right amount of quirky for a house built around 1910. Much larger bathroom than you would typically expect in a B&B of this age. And the bed was HEAVENLY! Each day we were riding we were comforted by the fact that we were going to crawl into such a comfortable bed. The room had great antiques in it and was spacioius and comfortable.
Just outside of the bedrooms is a common area with a fridge (able to put my morning breakfast diet coke on ice and nearby) and microwave. A nice little touch. And coffee was ready earlier than breakfast so you can run down and get a nice hot cuppa joe when you first wake-up.
The last morning we had to leave early, before the 9:00 scheduled breakfast so we let Terry know that we wouldn't be there. She immediately offered to have breakfast ready at 8:00 instead. Knowing we had little power over her delicious breakfasts my partner asked if we could just have oatmeal. Terry rose to the occasion, again, with fresh made steel cut oatmeal with walnuts and dried cherries. (she just can't help herself! LOL).
And that brings me to the "my partner" portion of the review. We never know how we will be accepted as a couple when we travel, either by the host/ess or other guests. Terry was great and we were very comfortable the entire time. The other guests were equally warm and kind.
The next time we visit the area we will definately stay here.
