“Black Pointe Estate”

Went to see this estate on Sunday Sept 29, 2013. Went via the boat tour. This mansion was well worth the trip. Built in 1888 and all the furnishings inside are the originals. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Totally interesting if you are interested in hearing about another era.

“Lovely boat ride & great historic tour”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

A friend and I took this tour on one of the warm days in September. The boat ride was both relaxing and very informative - lots of history of the area around the Lake. We were on the 10:30 tour during the week - so we brought a sack lunch to eat before we got to the house. They do sell a box lunch, but you don't get it until after the house tour (about 1:15) and it was only a sandwich, chips, etc. We brought our own in a paper sack so we could dispose of everything when we left the boat to go up to the house (you can't leave anything on the boat). The stairs are not as bad as some make them out to be. The house is beautiful - and everything is just the way the owners left it when they donated it to the State. Lovey antiques and lots of history of the family and the lake area. We had a great time. FYI - if you have a Family Passport to the Wis. Historic Sites & Museums you don't have to pay the $12 house entrance fee, just the $24 boat ride fee.

“Too long of an estate tour but boat ride is good”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

As the title says, we enjoyed the boat ride there and back as the commentator gave us an idea of all the mansions along the lake. That was fun an interesting but the 1 1/2 hour long estate tour was WAY too long. Some of us just went out, sat on the patio and enjoyed the nice quite surrounding. I guess if you're really really into old style building/architecture/furniture/photos, this might be a tour for you. But most of us got pretty bored after 1/2 hour and just wanted to walk the house ourselves without such long details...

“Better ways to spend your time in Lake Geneva”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We were in town for just two days and took the lake tour that included this tour. While the home was interesting the tour was longer than it needed to be, 2 1/2 hours. We were also disappointed that you can't go up to the look out tower because of state laws about exits, my husband chose this tour mostly based on assuming we'd get to go up there and see the view from the highest point on the lake. Not a bad experience, just not worth the time unless you have lots of it while you are there.
