Friends and I took the boat ride to tour the Black Point Estate on the south side of Geneva Lake. The estate was formerly owned by the same family since it was built. There are 100+ steps up from the boat dock to the site of the mansion, with stopping points along the way. The gardens are lovely as are the numerous trees on the property. It is a fun trip to see how a family enjoyed the summers in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, for decades. The boat ride to and from the estate is narrated with interesting facts about the beautiful homes on the lake.

While one makes an effort to get there because access is available only via boat and 176 (?) steps up to the house, this is a special museum especially because it was actually used by the family until several years ago when they gave it to the state of Wisc. All contents came from the family; some from their Chicago home and the rest from this home. Step into the past to learn what living was like during the late 1800s and up until recently.

Went on the Black Point Estate tour today. It was fantastic! Started with a 45 minute narrated boat ride on the lake - had such a wonderful tour guide. He knew a lot about the area, the houses & history and made it very fun! The tour of the house was 1-1/2 hrs & awesome! The guide was great, the house and grounds were beautiful! Another 45 minute ride back to the boat docks, also narrated & just as fun (it was a great ride on the lake too :) Very well done & organized, such a great time & the all the guides were terrific! Definitely a worth-while tour if you're going to Lake Geneva!

This "summer home" of the ultra-rich was beautiful! It was fun to see the house preserved and furnished with the old-time furnishings. There are about 120 stairs to walk-up after you get off of the boat tour, but it was SO worth it!

The boat ride to the estate was great fun as we were provided with a informative tour of the homes on the lake.

There is a long stairway from the pier to the actual house - some of us were a bit winded :).

The house is fabulous and the furnishings donated by the family provide a time capsule of the late 19th and early 20th century.

A History Lovers membership to the Wisconsin state historical society provided a discount price for the tour.
