We took the boat ride over to the Estates and when we got there were greeted by the people who took care of the home. We got a guided tour of the home, which has been kept just as it was. The house is beautiful.

good luck getting a reservation, the lady on the phones was very discouraging and we ended up abandoning the visit.

I don't know if it was the area or not but this tour is the one I use as a yardstick for all of the others we've been on since. The area is beautiful and the history of the area is very interesting. I'm from Chicago so there is that connection also. It was very interesting seeing this old mansion and imagining how it would be to stay there for the summer in years past. If you like local history you'll love this area and the tour

This is a very enjoyable thing to do on a nice sunny day. Enjoyed the boat ride to and from the estate. The tour of the estate was good. Would of liked to learn of more history.

Built in 1888 and donated to the State of Wisconsin in 2005 by heirs of the original owners, this historic site is notable because it contains the original furnishings, including the china, crystal, linens, library, games, and even some clothing and the contents of medicine cabinets. The home is in pristine condition. See fine examples of Low Art tiles surrounding the fireplaces, extraordinary stained and frosted glass, and spectacular views of Lake Geneva. The docent-led tour brings to life the summer experience of lake residents at the turn of the century. Tours are held in small groups so everyone has time to gawk and the docents manage to keep groups from crowding one another. The 45-minute lake cruise to the site includes a sail past lake estates; the skipper and mate will tell you more about this historic lake site the homes that line the shores.
