“Outstanding Dining Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

We have been to Red Geranium several times: The food was always excellent, the service cordial and the atmosphere airy and relaxing. The openness provided by many windows offers a panoramic review of people coming to and going from Lake Geneva. The food is ample, delicious, and thoughtfully coordinated. From the salads with their in-house made dressings to their tasty main courses and unusual desserts, Red Geranium's offerings are of a quality rarely experienced today. The people serving us were most helpful and attentive. A dining experience at Red Geranium is worth a trip in itself.

“Stuck in the Past”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

This restaurant is so dated I can't even believe it. We got ancient green carpet, 70's (or earlier) wallpaper, white tablecloths, and old ladies in tuxedos waiting tables. It smelled musty, like ancient B&B.

The MENU is even MORE DATED. The whole thing was old classical dishes that they teach you how to cook in culinary school so you can learn the basic techniques. The prices did not at all match the value of the food. Overpriced.

However, I must say that though everything was from the Cretaceous period, the food was executed properly. However, perfect technique with no creativity and no elevated differentiating edge is not valuable in today's culinary world.

“Stuffy and Overpriced”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

I found the formal attire of the wait staff a bit stuffy and old fashioned. They had a low price lunch special, but the rest of the menu items were very expensive. We probably would have left if not for the lunch special. The food tasted just average. The big surprise though was the next day when I checked my debit card transactions and found that my receipt for $19 and some change wasn't what was actually charged to my card! The transaction that showed was $14 more than my receipt. So our basic $19 lunch plus cash tip left on the table turned into a nearly $40 lunch. I had to call the establishment, they had to check their records, and sure enough, they found they had overcharged me by $14! They plan to credit my account. Lesson learned is always keep your receipt if paying via a card. Will we go back - I don't think so.
