“Lazy Cloud is perfect for a romantic getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2009

My husband and I just returned from our third stay at the Lazy Cloud Inn. We have been in the Dreamcatcher Suite and the Blue Moon. Both are wonderful. During this visit to the Blue Moon Suite, we enjoyed the romantic, cozy setting. From the moment we checked in, we felt that every detail was attended to. Connie, at the desk, was so very friendly and helpful. She showed us all of the rooms at the Inn. Every single one looked so unique and special, and we'd be very happy in any of them. The Blue Moon has a king-sized bed and a TV, two things that vary depending on the suite. We loved enjoying the cool night air on the huge private deck off of our room. We hope to stay for more than one night next time! We highly recommend Lazy Cloud for a romantic time to reconnect with your loved one.

We stayed in the "moonlight and roses" room and took advantage of the picnic basket offered for $65.00. We were deeply disappointed and if we could have, we would have changed hotels.

Pro - Very quiet, wooded setting. No room noise from other guests. Expansive, private deck looking into the woods. Hot tub and gas fireplace were in good shape and worked. Easy to find. Convenient to area attractions (with car). The picnic was tasty, when it arrived. Maid service was effective. Pretty grounds.

Con's - The worst hotel bathroom we have ever experienced. 1960's fixtures. Tiny, with randomly, dangerously variable water temperature. It was frightening to take a shower, because the water temp varied from icy to scalding within seconds. No amount of adjusting helped. The provided shampoo etc. were old bottles that had been refilled with some bulk product and hand labeled as "shampoo" and passed from guest to guest, which we found just plain creepy. The picnic dinner was delivered nearly an hour late and only after we walked to the office to remind the staff. Had to walk to the office, because there is no telephone in the room. And, when dialed via cell no one in the office ever answered the telephone throughout our stay. The bed was worn out 10 years ago and the sheets were cheap when purchased and were beyond threadbare. While the maid service was acceptable the office help was late, unhelpful, and unavailable. They attempted to clean, but the age and amount of kitsch in the rooms makes it a sisyphean task.

If you have ever been to a 3 or 4 star hotel, you will be very unhappy with this accommodation. Certainly not worth the money spent. We would not return at any price.

We are thankful for the very nice comments in the “Pro” section; sounds like a great place to stay! We do have problems with most of the “Con” section, however.

We purchased what is now the Inn seven years ago. It was an 11 room country motel, which we gutted and completely renovated to become 5 luxurious suites. The bathrooms, which are small but functional, were part of that teardown; fixtures were replaced at that time (2002).

By making the bathrooms smaller, we were able to provide wonderful double whirlpools in the sitting areas, where guests can relax and have a romantic view of the fireplace. A lot better than sitting in the tub in a bathroom and staring at the toilet, we thought! We have found it to be the correct decision!!

New beds and furniture were purchased at the same time. Mattresses are replaced in a timely manner, and our sheets are never below a 400 thread count, although they do vary in texture. Guests are able to check out pictures and detailed narratives of each of our unique suites on our website.

Most guests have cell phones; we originally placed phones in all of the suites at the Inn, but found they received little use. As a cost savings in today’s economy, we decided to replace them with one phone in a central location available to everyone 24/7. Our telephones are answered 24/7, either in person or by answering machine after 9 p.m. If the answering machine is reached, an emergency number is given to the caller. The emergency number is listed on the information sheet in each of our suites.

We are a small 9 room inn; except for a short overlap during shift changes, there is only one innkeeper on duty. The innkeepers wear many hats and are in and out of the office doing personal check ins, delivering picnics, fireside desserts, assisting with requests for additional supplies, housekeeping, etc. In addition, they are frequently taking phone reservations, making dinner reservations for guests, etc. We apologize for the inconvenience, but you may have to try phoning more than once. You may be assured that you will be able to reach them during their 9a.m.-9p.m. shift, after which you may use the emergency number.

There is no excuse for tardiness, and for that our innkeeper was profusely apologetic when the picnic was delivered 30 minutes late. And, we do humbly apologize, once again, for that!

Our goal is the best customer service possible, and we will continue our efforts toward that goal. From our overwhelmingly positive reviews, we feel we are succeeding. We have met many wonderful guests along the way.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. We were in the Brookfield Suite. (Though the word 'Suite' is generously applied to this room - its really just a room with a jacuzzi in it). The inn is located right on Hwy 50 - which is convenient for access to most roads/highways. However, it is about 3 miles from the downtown portion of Lake Geneva - so if you want something near the Lake - this isn't the place for you.

The stated check-in time is 4:00. However, when we booked the room we requested that we be able to check in a little earlier. We also called a couple of times before arriving and politely reminded them of our request. We had an event to attend that night and a 4:00 check-in was going to make it tough to get there on time. We arrived at the Inn at about 3:10 - only to be told that our room hadn't been cleaned yet. Naturally - I understand the 4:00 PM check in time - but I was somewhat frustrated that we had requested an earlier check-in a few times - only to have our room be the last one cleaned (not to mention there was still a vacancy for that night and that room had been cleaned).

The room decor itself can best be described as country-kitschy. The towels were still damp. Since the Brookfield 'Suite' is considered the 'honeymoon room,' - there is an adult-themed game provided in the room. Which normally I would have no problem with - but the thought of a 'used' adult game is creepy. The sheets on the bed were really poor quality - very thin - seemed like 50 thread count or something in that range. The pillows were flat and provided no support. The Brookfield 'Suite' is actually located on the bottom floor of a two-story fourplex - and given the age of the building - anytime the people in the room above us would walk - you could certainly hear them. The headboard for the bed (which is basically a white-picket fence) is apparently attached to the bed and the wall? In any case - any movement in the bed would cause the headboard to squeak. So if you found yourself turning over in your sleep - the creaking would most likely wake you up. The bathtub/shower has a very slow drain - which means that you're basically standing in a few inches of water by the end of your shower. While the room provided many toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, shaving cream) - there wasn't a bar of soap for the shower/bath. The shower curtain is older and some of the holes that the shower curtain hooks fit into are torn. The screen door to the room is difficult to close because the bottom of it rubs against the bricks on the patio.

On the plus side - almost all the lights in the room are on a dimmer switch - which is a nice touch. The Jacuzzi Tub is a nice added amenity.

But overall - this room/inn is way overpriced for what is offered. We were disappointed in our stay.

Do we care about our guests’ opinions? We certainly do; their constructive criticism is always welcome; in fact, we solicit it. We are sorry, though, when inaccuracies are posted, and when we are not given the chance to address problems while guests are here.

Innkeepers are on duty from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with an after-hours contact number prominently listed on the informational sheet in each suite; it is also mentioned at check-in. We are happy to assist with any requests or problems 24/7--that’s what we are here for--just ask us, please.

There are many reasons why our check in time is posted as 4-9. We receive numerous requests for early check ins; we wish we could grant them all, but we just can’t. They are simply requests, not guarantees; we cannot guarantee until 4 p.m. Guests are welcome to call the day of their reservation to see if there is a possibility of a bit earlier check-in.

We do not have a specified “Honeymoon Suite,” as each of our suites is individually designed for a romantic getaway; there are no two alike. Guests have the opportunity to check our website, which provides four to five pictures of each suite, plus an accurate detailed narrative about each. We understand that people’s taste differs greatly, so this is a wonderful tool when making a reservation.

Our linens are carefully coordinated to match the unique décor of each of our rooms; although the textures may vary, no sheets are purchased that are lower than 400 thread count; that we can guarantee. Those in the Brookside are of a silky nature. Every suite has at least six pillows; additional pillows may be requested, or exchanges made.

“An Enchanting Evening” is a wonderful, tasteful board/card game about love, romance, laughter, and sharing; we proudly feature it in all of our rooms. It is so popular, that it is featured at a large, local resort, and would be appropriate to give to one’s parents.

We are very proud of Lazy Cloud and our staff, and are happy that our combined efforts to make it a haven for our guests have been so well received. How do we know this? The percentage of return guests is growing by leaps and bounds, and that’s the best indicator.

The Lazy Cloud does romance right! Located in a beautiful wooded setting, we enjoyed the peace and quite of nature, but able to get to town (both Lake Geneva and Williams Bay) within minutes. The Blue Moon suite was perfectly appointed with a fireplace, jacuzzi, stars on the ceiling...and a log swing on the private porch. While sitting on the porch, we were visited by a wild turkey and her turkettes, a racoon and a variety of other wild life. We woke up Saturday morning to an amazing massage and then off to take the Black Point Mansion tour (we would highly recommend both the massage and the tour). Lazy Cloud gave us just the right amount of ambiance, privacy, and natural beauty to recharge our souls. The champagne and chocolate covered strawberries didn't hurt, either!

This was our first visit to the Lazy Cloud Inn and we loved it! My husband just returned from overseas and we needed time to reconnect and the Dreamcatcher Suite was perfect. It was quiet, private and we loved all the extras! The suite was nicely decorated and the staff was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs to get away from it all and spend sometime with your loved one, thanks for the memories!
We can't wait to return to the Dreamcatcher for our anniversary in January!

The Lazy loud was defintely more than we expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. It felt like they were long time friends. The Lazy Cloud was a perfect place to celebrate our anniversary and spend time together without all of life's interruptions. Our room, The Starry Night, was very cozy and private. The picnic basket that we ordered for our first night was fantastic. We enjoyed it on the room's private deck. The extra touches provided also made our stay special.

My husband has been working out of the country as a civilian contractor for the government since 2006. When he comes home, we usually travel to visit family or take time with the kids. Twice since he started this we have been able to get away for a cozy couple of nights - just the two of us. We went to the Lazy Cloud B&B the first time and loved it so much that we decided to try the Inn this time around. We stayed in the Stone Grotto Room in the Guest House. The room was very private and quiet. We enjoyed the feeling of seclusion. The temperatures were mild so we were able to leave the sliding glass door open and enjoy the sound of the fountain below. If you are looking for a quiet retreat, Lazy Cloud is just the place.
