We have lived near Lake Geneva for about 8 years. Unfortunately we have found few restaurants that are reasonably prices and also have good food. This restaurant has both. The menu during the winter is smaller due to reduced kitchen staff. We both had crepes. They were delicious! I hope to visit again soon.

They're trying a bit too hard - food was good, but just "too" - too rich, or too buttery, or too sweet.

Unfortunately, rating this restaurant was not simple, cut and dry, easy, etc. Numerous intricate variables influenced my 'average' rating of this brand new, downtown Lake Geneva Creperie.

Lets start with the food. My wife and I ordered two crepes: the goat cheese, bacon, and fig crepe as well as the brie and spinach with carmelised onions and roasted red peppers. As it is always optimistic and delightful to begin with the best, I must recommend the goat cheese, bacon, and fig crepe. It was fantastic. The fig compote was sweet and tangy and perfectly mixed with the creamy and slightly potent flavour of the goat cheese. The thick bacon brought it all together with the salty delicous bacony flavour that all but vegetarians and boring peole love and adore.

The brie and spinach crepe had potential deliciousness, but regrettably the roasted red pepper was more of liquidous sauce that turned the beautifully cooked crepe into a sponge. Typically, brie is a delicious and flavourful cheese, but for some reason it had little flavour. The carmelised onions also contributed to the watery consistency but regrettably did not contribute much flavour. Les crêpes ont été frappées et coup manqué - the crepes were definitely hit-and-miss.

Oddlly enough, each savoury crepe was served with a very uninteresting lettuce salad with a typical viniagrette. Add some frizee or arugula or mizuna or tatsoi or something to diversify and add excitement to the flavours and - God forbid - the presentation.

The creperie also offers over 16 flavours of gelato, which I - with much regret - had not the opportunity to sample. Medium runs $3.50, large $4.50. I oft awake excitedly to dreams of cheap gelato, only to be sorely disappointed.

What really bothered me about this restaurant relates directly to the title of this review - genre confused. Typically, crepes are served in either hipsterfood street/food truck/cart fashion or in rustic French style creperies - I've even seen gourmet restaurants serve crepes. But Lake Geneva Creperie was definitely genre confused. I couldn't tell if they were shooting for a casual cafe feel or a more gourmet environment. Additionally, the rather bland interiour was decorated with copious amounts of faux flores. The walls were also covered with hasty paintings of France and creperies, but, try as they might, detracted from the ambience. The layout of the restaurant was quite awkward as well.

Service was average.

I definitely recommend for the food. The crepes are very affordable and, though inconsistent, delicious if you hit the right one. The sweet crepes looked delicious as well and were a bit cheaper than the savoury crepes which ranged from $7.50 all the way up to a $12.50, which is the price of a cheap appetizer at any other restaurant in Lake Geneva.

Another tip - the restaurant closes at 5:oo pm on Sundays and around 6:oo other nights, so don't plan on eating out late here. It just won't happen.

We walked in the door to get a little gelato. The very friendly wait staff urged us to eat lunch instead. Everything was delghtful. The crepes were made fresh and the various savory stuffings were good. I particularly liked the Goat cheese, fig and bacon crepe. I wrapped up lunch with a crepe stuff with gelato and toasted sliced almonds and topped with a mountain of whipped cream and drizzled with hot fudge. The prices were reasonable and the service attentive.
