This water park resort may be fine if you're going with groups of people and you don't want to spend a lot of money, but when you go as one family with young kids, you can be in for a whole lot of pain. We stayed with our young kids and it was absolutely awful! We were set between 3 groups of room blocks and there were teens and adults keeping their doors open, partying in the halls and from what we heard directly above us, there were people running and banging half the night. Not only was the noise extreme and relentless, the hotel staff was unable to control it. The hotel was pretty bad in terms of cleanliness as well. Hair around the sink area and bath, very uncomfortable beds with questionable bedding and unkempt common area (The elevator had dried, nasty food smeared across the numbers and it was there from the time we checked in until we checked out!) It may be well worth staying and the Grand Geneva and just paying for the water park separately. I was assured from the reservation agent that Timber Ridge Lodge kept Grand Geneva standards. Don't believe it! It was just like any Super 8 or Econo Lodge that you may find next to a highway...unpredictable and dodgy!

There are a few upsides: Kids had fun at the water park, front and restaurant staff were fairly nice and the kids liked the food (of course, it was all kid friendly-pretty hard to mess up chicken fingers and hot dogs) . Honestly, we would have left early if it were not for the kids wanting to go swimming and sledding one more time.

Winter Break for kids means FUN FUN FUN and where should a family with young children can find fun without the headache of flying but can do it within short driving distance ? My answer is Timber Ridge Lodge, Lake Geneva in the Mid West !! When Key Lime Cove open in 2008 we thought we should try it out and so we can compare with Timber Ridge Lodge later. It turn out with a big disappointment !! Room very small, dirty, no family suite, no kitchen , tiny bathroom and service is below standard. Also too far from the Vilmot skiing location compare to 5 mins drive to Grand Geneva from Timber Ridge Lodge. Of course we went back to Timber Ridge Lodge on our 2009 Winter Break vacation and can't be happier to be back to our familiar resort with the familiar suite and friendly stuffs. During our our stay, we had problem with one of the toilet and in less than 5 mins , the housekeeper came to fixed it. Can't beat that ! Our room is always clean. Did I mention the kitchen ?? Just bring your food and store in a big refrigerator and everything you need from cooking pots/pans to plate, glasses/cups are all all provided. When you travel with kids every bits of little things are matter to make your vacation an unforgettable one , either a GOOD or BAD experience. And I want to say Timber Ridge Lodge never fail us but only get better and better year after year. This is our fourth year at Timber Ridge Lodge, my family wanna say Thank You for making our vacation such a happy and great one. We are planning to bring more friends and family to join us next year.

We had a great time at our stay at Timber Ridge Lodge. We had family in from out of town and were excited to spend a couple days in Lake Geneva. The waterpark was great, the accomodations were more than one can expect from staying in a hotel and the service was delivered with a smile from everyone, especially the lifeguards. We contemplated extending our stay there but it just didn't work with how much time we had. We will definitely be going back again. The term "suite" is used to describe many hotel rooms at many hotels, but this hotels determination of "suite" was everything you could hope for in a room. Sometimes I am disappointed with the amenities of hotels after getting excited about the way they are described in the website. This is not the case with this hotel.

We have been to Timber Ridge Lodge now 6 times in the last 4 years. Every experience has been a positive one, with friendly staff and comfortable rooms. The water park is part of the draw for us as a family, with plenty to offer kids of every age. The resort is nestled into the woods at the Grand Geneva, and as you enter the main gates you really feel a million miles from suburbia. We return each year just after Thanksgiving to enjoy the holiday lights and activities. The restaurants at the lodge and at the Grand Geneva are excellent. It is one of the few places outside of Disney where we have come to expect and enjoy top-notch service and attention. We will be returning again soon!

Super fabulous resort for small children! Our children are 1 and 4, so we were looking for a resort with a water park that was not too huge, not too crowded, with not too many teenagers running around. Timber Ridge was perfect!

Room: Our room was a standard one bedroom room. It was such a big room, perfect for letting little ones stretch out. Dining table seated 6, full kitchen (minus oven), large bathroom with HUGE hot tub. All four of us fit in that thing! My kids are still talking about the "huge tub". Seperate master bedroom with t.v., closet, and own heat and air. The sofa in the living room pulled out, which is what our kids slept on. That area also had a fire place and large tv. The patio was very nice (bottom floor) with chairs for relaxing. We faced a nice forest area. There was a second large closet off the kitchen as well.

Water Park: It was perfect for us. Again, our kids are 1.5 and 4. There were two actual tube water slides, one that both are kids were allowed on with parents. It was fast enough to thrill my 4 year old but not so fast that my 1.5 year old was scared. There was a "toddler" area with two decent sized water slides (not tube slides) that my 4 year old loved! Both kids were able to handle those slides without help from mom or dad. There was another area with a large pool (4 foot deep) with a large slide that the kids could do by themselves, but we needed to catch them as the water was over the heads (the water park does provide free life jackets in several sizes that were great). There was basketball hoops and floating pads and net in that pool. There was a lazy river that was VERY lazy. It was fine for our kids, but it was pretty slow, nothing rough at all. There was also a very large hot tub that was indoor / outdoor (kids over 5 according to sign). We did take our 4 year old in it, she loved being outside in the cold weather in a hot tub! There is a food area in the park with typical "fast food" items. What we most appreciated was the WARM AIR and WARM WATER. Our girls are skinny and freeze at most indoor water parks, but this place was super warm, it had huge heater lamps hanging from the ceiling. The water was also warm, I am not a fan of jumping into a pool due to water temp., but I had no problem here b/c the water was so warm. The park was very uncrowded when we were there, maybe 20 other kids in the park at a time.

Other: We also appreciated that this resort is obviously geared toward keeping kids and parents happy. ALL staff, down to cleaning staff, were super friendly, helpful, always smiling. The resort also had a arcade that was affordable with tickets and prizes to choose from. There was a "movie room" with big pillows and bean bags on the floor. There were usually 2 movies during the day and 1 at night. We participated in family bingo, great kid prizes and great fun. There was story reading at night by the fire place.

This was a great resort for small children. The room is almost worth the price even if there was no water park! We'll go again for sure!
