“Not just for kids!”
Reviewed December 19, 2013

My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and their tall water slides are REALLY fast and a lot of fun. The service is great. We went on the cheapest day of the month (a Sunday night) so there was almost no one there - if you're an adult who wants to escape the winter blues, I recommend doing it that way. The rooms are nice, though the 1 BR was a little oddly laid out - kind of skinny and long. There was a huge 2 person jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, which we utilized almost as much as the water park! The kitchen is nice - no oven, but a full stove, dishwasher, etc. You can find plenty to do just in the resort (Grand Geneva) around Christmastime. If you run out of things, you can go to adorable downtown Lake Geneva.

We've decided this place will become an anniversary tradition for us. It's not the cheapest indoor water park around, but it feels very homey and we love the location.

I do agree with some others who said that according to Wisconsin law, kids cannot go in the hot tub, but I never saw the lifeguards saying anything to the many kids going in and out of the hot tubs with families. But like I said, the rooms have nice jacuzzis, so the hot tub wasn't the most important thing to us.

The rooms have fast wi-fi and fireplaces!!!

On the plus side, the rooms are spacious. We had a room with a bedroom, bath (with two seater bathtub with jets), kitchen, dining area, living room with fireplace and sleeper sofa, and loft area with a queen bed and bathroom. Small Balcony. The dining room table had to be pushed against the wall when not in use to let people access the living room and pulled out to allow 6 to be seated. The waterpark is fine -- smaller than the Wilderness in Tennessee, for example, but has a small lazy river, little kids splash area, hot tub, and 1 and 2 person slides. Does not have wave pool, surfing area, or 4 person slides as in the Wilderness in TN. Outside of the waterpark, there are a few activities, but does not have bowling, climbing area, laser tag, etc as at the WIlderness. If you are staying in Lake Geneva and are looking for an apartment rental rather than a hotel, this is a good option and kids can amuse themselves for an hour or two a day in the waterpark. However, if you are looking for a waterpark destination resort, I would look to the Wilderness, or elsewhere.

150nightsperyr~ Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear that our two bedroom suite worked out well for your family. Many of our guests would agree that our waterpark is geared towards younger children, which is a benefit to those families who feel comfortable in a smaller environment. Also, we are not open to the public like a lot of other hotel waterparks are. In addition, we do have an activities room and arcade on site. I hope that you will come and visit us again. ~ Gerald

We have stayed at Timber Ridge many times. It is the perfect place for families. The rooms are huge and have a kitchen, so you can easily bring your own food, which saves money. There is plenty to do in the waterpark, plenty of food options and lots of activities besides the waterpark. Plus, you can take the trolley to the Grand Geneva and go to the spa (the facials are amazing!) or one of their restaurants. We always have a great time here.

We took advantage of the Day Tripper package. What a deal being that you get a hotel room as well as 5 waterpark passes for 12 hours. We lucked out on a Tuesday to only have to share the park with only a handful of folks and kids. What a great way to spend a day with the family. Everyone at the hotel is very accommodating. Give it a try!

This is our 3rd time here and had another great time!!! We have come in the spring when it was still chilly out so did not get to use the outdoor pool and another time in the summer where we did. Both times were fun. This time we got a Groupon deal so figured let's go experience the Christmas holiday season. I'm so happy we did. Water park area was warm but the lazy river for some reason felt cold. First night we were there we ordered pizza from the bbq restaurant they have there and it was good. Not the best but they deliver and hit the spot. We have gone there for dinner with a large group in the past and we all loved the food we had. Cheeseburgers, salads and ribs are great there! They have carry out or delivery which is nice if you want to eat in your room. Following day we made our own breakfast another big plus of staying there is that they have a nice kitchen with everything you need minus an oven to make your own meals. Saturday night November 30th we took the trolley to the Grand Geneva for dinner and to look at their light display. Kids loved it and it was nice the trolley had holiday music playing and our driver would slow down wherever there was a light display that moved so the kids could see and enjoy. I felt bad we didn't bring any cash to tip him he was really nice and professional. We had never been inside the Grand Geneva so we were not quite sure what to expect. My girls 3 and 5 (and me) LOVED LOVED LOVED the holiday ambiance the Grand Geneva created. Beautiful big tree, live Christmas music playing from the lounge next to the Grand Cafe and the cute Gingerbread house and Christmas mailbox were among the favorite things to look at for my girls. That was just the lobby. The 2nd floor had more Christmas displays and gingerbread house displays as well.
Only thing that really did upset me was that I had called and asked if it was necessary to make reservations for the Grand Cafe and the girl at restaurant reservations said no. Well she was wrong. The girl at the desk said they were needed especially on a holiday Saturday night. So we ended up having to go to the Italian place upstairs and not really enjoying our meal as we would of liked. It's hard to eat at a more fancy place with a toddler and 5yr old. Though I do have to say the girls loved the angel hair pasta. What we had was just o.k. I think we liked our soup and side dishes more than our main dish. But oh well we did make the best of it and still had a great time. Next time we come in during the holiday season we are going to make sure we reserve a holiday show and make reservations for the Grand Cafe. It would of been nice to eat and hear the Christmas music they were playing in the lounge while we ate. Another thing and I always forget I will bring my own pillows. I don't like fluffy pillows. My family will return again!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 145 this time around and it was nice to be right down the hallway from the arcade...

This was my first visit to Timber Ridge. We made my daughter's 5th birthday celebration into a mini-vacation by staying two nights during the holiday week. The room with a separate bedroom and a full kitchen is great for families. Children can sleep in the room while adults stay up in the suite. We took the free shuttle to the Grand Geneva for the holiday festivities. It was cold, but the fireworks and winter lights were a treat for everyone. What made the vacation special was the waitress in the Grand Geneva Café. She was kind and sweet and treated my daughters like a princesses with flowers for their hair. Then, the birthday girl received a long stem rose, a glass (big girl) cup and a free brownie sundae. We all felt very special by the welcome and royal treatment. The waterpark is a perfect size for two days of swimming and play. The arcade and activities center offers options for families with multiple kids at varying ages. We plan to return to try skiing and ice skating soon.

We visited Timber Ridge in November 2013 for my daughters 13th birthday. WSe purchased a Groupon offer and glad we did. Our room was a king size bed in one room and a sofabed in the living room. The room had 2 TVs and a fireplace, a full kitchen and dining area and a huge 2 person jacuzzi tub. Very spacious...wish we had stayed longer. The waterpark area was just the right size for a one night getaway. Since it was the holiday season, they had a free trolley ride from Timber Ridge to the Grand Geneva which allowed us to see all of the Christmas lights on the property and then we were able to go in a see all of the displays and judge the gingerbread houses. Great time!
