We came here on a Saturday night. THe restaurant was busy. We had reservations and were seated promptly. We had the imported plum wine... very good. We also ordered the tempura shrimp and hibachi chicken... also very good. Our waitress seemed rushed. She didn't ask if we would like any dessert and just left the cgeck. We figured that she must have forgotten. They were busy.
You will not be disappointed! Try it.

Went back right after the 4th of July with three generations of extended family. Again the food (esp. fish) quality was top notch. But again, to get to the food, we had to first cut through a thick layer of server cluelessness and unfamiliarity with the menu. For instance when I asked our waitress (as I always ask at Japanese restaurants) "what is especially tasty today?", she shrugged her shoulders, quipped "I couldn't tell you", and then poured the water and walked off.

Clearly the owner/chef is committed to authentic and top quality cuisine. S/he would be advised to find some servers who, if not quite as committed as s/he is, at least realize they are working at a "nice" restaurant and not a diner.

N.B. read your bill closely. They are quick to sneak on a steep mandatory gratuity (and then tax on it!), even for small parties.

My family (wife and five-year-old) ate here after skiing at Grand Geneva last winter. (It was a get-away dinner before driving back to Chicago; we had eaten at Ryan Braun's the previous night.)

We are Japanese food buffs. But since we prefer nigiri over the trendy maki (rolls) you get at the disco sushi joints downtown, I was hesitant to try a sushi place in a resort town 90 minutes outside the city. We asked our waiter what he recommended and what was especially fresh that night. Usually I find sushi chefs like when you ask those questions (typically they get a few really outstanding cuts of particular fish every now and then), but our waiter got a bit defensive and said "this is an upscale restaurant, everything is good here." No worries mate, I thought, but we were concerned that his answer was designed to mask unremarkable food (as 50% of the large party next to us proceeded to order chicken teriyaki). Our fears were soon allayed. The sushi sampler was fantastic and measured up to the highest tier of fish you can find in a big city -- including the U.S. coasts.

Prices are reasonable -- they don't seem to exploit the tourist flow the same way they seem to do at the fancy Lake Geneva chophouses and Italian joints.

Ambiance is nice (old Victorian-style home) and quiet, if a bit odd for the venue.

Service was slow (especially on a slow night), but if you're not in a rush and you appreciate high-quality fish, you won't be disappointed here.
