I booked dinner at the Baker House for our anniversary. I loved the idea of the hat collection available to diners! Very fun atmosphere in the Victorian house. The charcuterie was excellent, and the dinner menu has small but varied selection of options.

There were 10 of us for brunch and everyone loved it. They have the best crab cakes I have ever eaten. The Eggs Benedict are also excellent. Baker House is a different and a very fun place. The hats are sprayed with disinfectant and safe to wear. So enjoy the fun. Our waitress Rachel was great. Not only did she do a wonderful job making sure we had everything we needed she took her time to take many pictures for us. We can't wait to go back.

The historic building itself added much to the atmosphere. The service staff tried to dress the part of 19th century servants, but it came across as a parody. I was disappointed that none of the wait staff seemed to be in character. The service was on the slow side but quite friendly.
The menu was interesting and the smaller plates were suggested as American tapas. The four of us decided on four of them, plus dessert. All but the dessert were brought together so the crab cakes got cold while we ate the earlier courses. Most of the food was good and well presented. However, I sent the Crème Brule back because it was grainy and lacked flavor--obviously from a box.
The array of men's and women's hats available to those who wanted to pretend were a hoot. Best of all was the pianist who also sang and accompanied himself as he played trumpet! Enjoyable and entertaining!

If you are in the Lake Geneva area do not miss the Baker House. The food was great and the atmosphere wonderful. Plan on wearing one of the many historical period hats that they keep for guest to wear during their meal. Half the fun is choosing the hat you want to wear! We were there for Sunday Brunch and we loved everything we tried, including the Bananas Foster and dipped strawberries! It's right on the lake and in the business district so take a break from shopping and enjoy a great meal.

Baker House is an 1885 mansion on Lake Geneva in the downtown area. It is surrounded by rather ordinary hotels, but it retains the ambience of an earlier era.

The Sunday brunch is a real treat, with a wide range of choices, and nearly everything is excellent. During the summer there is outdoor seating and a garden for after-brunch strolls. In the fall, the view of the lake is pleasant, and the settings in separate rooms connected by open entry ways are peaceful and comfortable.

For an extensive brunch with dozens of choices, this is an excellent value.
