“Come for the martinis, stay for the filet”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

Fields is always a must when I stay in the Dells. It is the once in awhile type of restaurant that combines atmosphere with good food and drinks. The lemon drop martini is my favorite. The included salad and potato makes this high end steak joint more value oriented than some of it's competitors. Service is always excellent (if not a bit over the top) but they are very accomodating to children; even speeding up the meal to keep up with their short attention spans.

“Insulting and way overpriced”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

These people act like they are doing you a favor by letting you in. The food is mediocre at best and served warm. They wait until all your table's order is ready in the kitchen and put each entree on a serving cart. Then they wheel it to you. If they would all get done at the same time fine, but that is never the case. Hot food turns into warm food quickly and then the long roll out to the table and you have no chance of getting a hot meal in this place. Don't dare tell the server that your prime rib is too well done. The manager will bring it back and tell you you don't know what you're talking about. I know if a prime rib is medium rare of medium well Einstein. It wasn't the lighting. We will never go back to this rip off joint. You can dress a dog up in lace, but it's still a dog. Field's is a dog.

“delicious steak”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

Expensive but delicious. Fillet was $50 without sides, but really was great. My kids all loved their steaks too, but was pricey.

“Prime rib is fantastic but...”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

The prime rib is fantastic. I repeat, the prime rib is fantastic. It is the best I have had in a long time. That said you are definitely paying a premium for it. The small cut prime rib is $30. Any steak you order will run you that, up to $45. Want blue cheese dressing with your salad? That will be an additional fee. If I am paying $30 for prime rib I should be able to get blue cheese dressing on my salad included in the price. The wine list is pretty extensive with some bargains to be had, like the Ridge Zinfandel. Service is ok. You will get a lot of people waiting on you, but somehow it still ends up being slow. I finally paid my bill with help from the hostess. The atmosphere can be intimate, and there are great views of the fountain and lake. However, you will see everything from formal wear to camouflage being worn by the customers; people hanging out and barbecuing by the lake; and you have to remember it is tied into the water park. Overall it was the nicest dinner we had, but it came at a premium. Definitely take advantage of a coupon that you find.

“You're paying for the atmosphere”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

The atmosphere was probably the best thing about this restaurant. Although it's enormous, the dim lighting, views of the fountain outside, water features inside, and most of all the live piano music make this restaurant inviting. The service was good but not great. It took a very long time to be served on a Saturday evening. The food was fine. Not exciting. Well prepared but still average, especially considering the price. I understand this is the best the Dells has to offer, but I don't think I'd come back.
