This was our first trip to Ishnala supper club and wow! We made sure to get there before sunset and had excellent drinks in the bar with wraparound glass windows overlooking Mirror Lake. We had been told the wait would be approx. 30-40 minutes (they don't take reservations) but it really was about 20. The staff was extremely good, our waitress was very attentive until the place filled up and then she apologised when it took her a little while to attend to us. Meals started with a small crock of cheese spread and crackers/breadsticks and we also had cheese curds and French Onion soup. The cheese curds were not your usual largish rectangles but were small oddly-shaped puffs. Excellent! The soup was very good as well, steaming hot. My husband had a salad, which he said was nothing special. For our entrees we had (1) prime rib with prawns and drawn butter and (2) a larger cut of prime rib. The meat was incredible, tender and juicy and perfectly done. My husband said he had never had better prawns and with the drawn butter he was in shellfish heaven! Rolls and caramel pecan rolls were also served in a side basket. Although we were full we couldn't resist dessert - a large assortment of treat was brought to our table for display. We had the Death By Chocolate cake, though it was much more a very heavy mousse than cake. Almost too much! The ambience was definitely old-school, with stuffed animals everywhere and lots of wood. Only one complaint - the tables are glass-topped, so plates and utensils slid freely and every time we set our glasses down we were afraid of cracking the glass table top! Would definitely go back, but at their prices for special occasions only.
