I stayed at the Carnegie Hall B & B while traveling on business and I'm glad I did. This historic building is an original Carnegie Library now with with five themed guest rooms and two common areas. It has kept the essential character of a library with an abundance of books, many dating from the original library days, and tasteful local history and Wisconsin Northwoods decorations. The stately upstairs common area with its older collection of books is a wonderful place to relax while brousing the book collection and enjoying complimentary wine and snacks for refreshment. Free WIFI is available.
In keeping with the character of the B & B, individual rooms do not have televison or coffee makers. This is a good thing, as those amenities are readily available in other parts of the building.
The rooms are large with high ceilings and widows, very comfortable and nicely appointed to reflect their individual themes. I stayed in the Civil War Room and slept very well, getting good rest. It has a very nice view of the gardens with the Flambeau River in the background. The whole property is very, very clean, quiet and well maintained.
Breakfast was tasty and abundant. Pat and Marty, the hosts, are very attentive to detail and do a great job of making their guests comfortable. They are proud of their community and the B & B is a real asset to Ladysmith, helping to make a good community better. Considering the excellent qauality of the property, the delicious breakfast and the complimentary amenities, the Carnegie Hall B & B provides great value and an interesting experience. I have stayed at many nice B & Bs and this one is clearly in the top eschelon.
