We have been coming to this region for 15 years. Each year we visit the casino almost daily for 7-10 days. Gambling is not different here than any other casino. Some days you win and some days you lose. The table and slot experience this year was enjoyable.

We ate at the buffet on 3 occasions this year. We could not believe how the food, service, and general attitude had deteriorated so much since last year. The majority of the staff were not friendly or helpful. Some were rude. As another reviewer commented, the ice machine broke on our last visit. Each time we ate there, I had to ask the help for bowls for the soup, bowls for the ice cream, or for desserts to be placed in the displace case. The buffet table was not kept tidy or restocked as often as it should have been. We also felt like to quality of the food is of lower quality than it was in previous years.

My husband and I traveled to Wisconsin to visit our son and daughter-in-law. We spent the week at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino. Our room was very nice, clean and well appointed. The staff was wonderful.
The pool was very nice, the whirlpool wonderful. When not with our family or in our room, this is where we could be found. This is our second visit here and hope it is not the last.

We cancelled a reservation in Green Bay to stay another night at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino. We arrived after dinner on a midweek night and enjoyed one round at the craps table. It has become increasingly difficult to find craps with lower minimum bets in casinos and we were very pleased with the $5 minimum (2X odds.) Only one end of the table was open but the crew worked it well and we enjoyed being up about $50-60 on 2-$200 stakes after one round. We took our customary break after that round and played video poker on the $15 gaming credits we got with the package we chose. We were disappointed the craps table had closed when we returned for another round. One of the reasons it is hard to find low minimum craps tables is that fewer people are playing craps, so it's hard for a casino to justify the personnel cost in offering it.
But we had a very nice room (one of the two lakefront whirlpool rooms with decks) and noticed how nice the indoor pool and hot tub area was. Having arrived late, we had not been able to do the northwoods sightseeing we had planned the day before, so we asked if the resort had a room available to extend our stay. The same room wasn't available, but they did have a very reasonably-priced standard non-smoking room that was about $60 less than the room we had reserved in Green Bay, so we decided to just stay another night and do the area sightseeing we had missed. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. We were very glad we stayed.
Our second evening, we were able to play three rounds of craps and still ended about $50-60 up for our stay. When we factored in the small winnings we had on the gaming credits from our first night's package and from the points we earned as Club Advantage members, we were up about $75 on gaming. Our package also included $30 food and beverage credit we were able to use for breakfast buffet and a picnic lunch we were able to use for our sightseeing and travel. Overall, we felt we got good value for our get-away.

Very poor gambling experience - drove 3 hours bypassing Wis Dells Ho Chunk and NorthStar to play the craps table at Lake of the Torches - when we arrived the craps table was closed because they didn't have enough dealers show up for work. Pit bosses were very nonchalant about it ... Even though there signs displayed that craps is open for play every day.

Went to the Prime Rib Buffet - buffet sat for at least 5 minutes without prime rib being set out and the ice creAm machine was broken.! Waitresses running floor cleaner during dining hours.

Poor work ethic is reflected in many ways.

We came from the Bad River Casino, a bit further up north, which was a dump. Lac du Flambeau looked like a four star resort. The rooms were nice, with nice sheets and clean!! We are not fond of buffets, but we were lured there because of the pig roast. It was just ok. The pig was ok, nothing special, cold. The boiled carrots were ok, along with some rib tips. The other side dishes looked and tasted icky. It was 8pm and the dessert area was a mess, with nothing looking edible. It will be quite awhile before I will be lured into a buffet. We did not try the breakfast buffet based on our stellar evening experience. It takes awhile to find a machine that pays out, but I did find one after fronting quite a bit of money. It was fun!

I hate to not rate the place a 5 star but there are a few issues. Wen I checked in we found out that the room we made reservations for almost 2 months before was not available. We were quoted a price of $55 and wound up paying twice that, but the room we got was great so guess it was a wash here, so that wasn't the worst thing but it didn't seem right to us. Then not even a "sorry here is some free play coupons or free buffets either".
The slots just eat our money too. Usually we can hit a few jackpots to help us play longer but not this week. Only 2 blackjack tables at night with many people waiting, how does that make the casino $$?
Now we made a BIG mistake, eating at the buffet, the prime rib was like shoe leather and just about raw too. Many people had to ask them to cook it longer to just eat it. The soup was gone by 7 PM and they are open till 9 I believe, no more then 3 different deserts to pick from. Everyone was complaining and all we were told is sorry but no one really seemed to care.

So in conclusion the staff is great for the most part, room was very clean, casino people just average, not too friendly when we ask any questions, they acted like they really didn't want to be there.

Also, stay out to the pool, it has 3 times the clorine then needed, our eyes were burning when we used it.

Room Tip: Reserve it and have them email u the rate quoted.
