“Island food”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

My wife and I enjoyed a late night meal that knocked my socks off. On an island that features mostly pub fare this was a welcome find. Gazpacho, beet salad, and a beautiful piece of fresh lake trout made my day. Across the table , a plate of beef tenderloins in a delicious sauce was enjoyed by my boss. We'll definitely take our business there on our next ferry trip across to Madeline Island.

“Local, organic gourmet dining”
Reviewed August 10, 2014

The bartender at Tom's Burned Down Cafe told us that Cafe Seiche was the best food on the island. She was right. I had the pecan crusted trout; my son ordered the beef tips special. Both meals were perfectly prepared with large portions. We also split the berry cobbler for dessert. Many cobblers are more topping than fruit, so we were pleasantly surprised at the abundance of berries (locally grown) and the sheer deliciousness of this cobbler. Cafe Seiche is only open for dinner on Wednesday through Saturday, and 12 - 6 on Sunday, so plan accordingly.

This restaurant is truly a gem. Local organic food, gourmet style. Tasty! Unique dishes-we absolutely loved the trout cakes.

“Wonderful discovery in LaPointe”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

When five of us were not able to get a reservation at a favorite restaurant on the island, we decided to try Cafe Seiche since they had an available table. The cafe has nice patio and outdoor seating in addition to interior bar and dining area. Our meal was delicious and we were so happy to have discovered another great restaurant on the island!

We ordered salads that were very fresh and had amazing flavors due to the fresh local ingredients. We all ordered fish entrees and found them perfectly cooked and flavorful. Four of us had the bacon-kettle chip-crusted Lake Superior whitefish served atop mashed potatoes with sautéed green beans on the side. The fifth person ordered the lake trout cooked inside puff pastry with a tasty sauce and vegetable assortment. The salads and the entrees were beautifully presented.

We were too full for dessert but they sounded delicious. We plan to return again to try different entrees and will save room for dessert. The cafe uses local food sources and changes their menu often, so it will be interesting to see the selection offered at our next visit.

“Gourmet meal on Madeline”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This was a real find. I had the pecan crusted trout and my husband had the whitefish and both meals were excellent. We ate inside as it was a bit brisk on the island and the dining room was quiet with a special ambiance to fit the island. Both wine selections that we had were excellent. Definitely will return in future trips.
