We spent 2 nights at Kickapoo Valley Ranch. So relaxing and the rooms were IMMACULATE! Hubby and I just need some down time. This was perfect. Quiet, peaceful…no pressure to get going in the morning. We scheduled a couple of in-room massages which was perfect. Highly recommend this place. We chose to be lazy but I when I go back, I want to take advantage of the beautiful scenery, hiking and rafting.

My Husband and I spent 2 nights at Kickapoo Valley Ranch Guest Houses. If your into snowshoeing it is a fantastic area to hike around in the snow. We would come back to a nice warm Cabin with the Gas Fireplace keeping it warm. Everything was immaculate! One can definetly tell they take great pride in their property and business. The only negative thing I can say is the time went WAY to fast! We will most definetly back back!!!!

If you don't mind driving through the beautiful driftless region of southwest Wisconsin to get there, you HAVE to try this place. It's not for those looking to be entertained, but is PERFECT for anyone seeking some true serenity and relaxation with some outdoor winter activities. We spend 3 nights here including New Year's Eve. It's truly picture perfect - there is just no other way to describe it. The cozy cabins sit up on the ridge and look a bit rustic, but as soon as you enter, you realize that everything was carefully designed. Really clean, top-notch linens, and furniture that was a nice quality. We were there just after a nice snow and the view was beautiful. Although it was really cold, we wrapped up in blankets and sat out on the porch in the rockers and enjoyed the view. The llamas were fun to visit, they are truly hilarious, especially Maximillion with his funny underbite, and the horses are just absolutley beautiful. We borrowed several movies from a wonderful selection, enjoyed the home-made cookies, and spent our days searching out some good snowshoeing hikes and driving all the backroads in the Kickapoo Valley reserve and surrounding area. We visited Wildcat Mountain Park and a major Amish area near Cashton that was really interesting. Cowboy Joe shared some of his experiences with running the ranch, planning for it, and how he never looked back, leaving a more chaotic lifestyle behind. Makes us want to find the courage to do the same...... A trip into the Tangled Hickory Bistro and Wine Bar in Viroqua on News Year's Eve (35 minutes or so) at the recommendation of Cowboy Joe turned out to be a perfect way to end our trip. We had a wine flight, tasting 5 different wines of our choice - then enjoyed a really nice, slow-paced dinner complete with live folk music from a couple of local folks. This is a place that creates a longing in you for a simpler way of life. You'll need to experience it to truly understand.......

What more could you ask for.....beautiful cabins, scenery, and great hosts. Could easily stay for a week or more! The North fjord horses and LLamas are awesome! We will definitely come back and stay here again. Thanks Cowboy Joe and David for the warm welcome. Everything was spotless and ready for us when we arrived and check out was very easy.

It had been too many years since our first visit to the ranch with other family members and this time was even better. A different cabin with a new view for just 2 of us is exactly what we needed. Although the Albertella was wonderful for a small group, Crazy Jack’s Place was perfect for 2 with plenty of extras. Spacious, yet cozy. Simple, yet indulgent.
Immediate relaxation upon our late arrival, Cowboy Joe quickly made sure we had everything needed and more for a memorable weekend. Lovely accommodations and a beautiful setting. We explored the area more this time on the fun, twisty roads. More important, we enjoyed the outdoor sitting area with chiminea while checking out the stars (amazing here without the light pollution). The well-appointed kitchenette allowed us the ability to stay “home” to enjoy meals when we just wanted to keep ourselves inside the warmth and comfort. Joe & David have created the perfect getaway that everyone must experience. We talked of our next stay before even leaving…

Right out of the gate, I'd like to that you for submitting such a glowing review and we here are so glad that you chose to return! We knew how much you enjoyed The Albertella Homestead cabin on your last visit & knew that the recommendation of Crazy Jack's Place cabin would also be just perfect! After receiving so many incredibly positive reviews from so many amazing & diverse guests, I felt it was time to let you (and all of our past reviewers) know how humbled we are by all of your kind words & heartfelt appreciation for all that we do here. There are a ton of lodging facilities in the Midwest, and we have worked tirelessly to establish ourselves as one of the best. Again, we are just so grateful that you all enjoy our cabins as much as we enjoy having you!
