A top flight restaurant in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Digger's Sting may have a traditional menu, but the food is prepared superbly. We've had steaks, seafood, and prime rims there, in all cases the meat or fish was of superb quality and perfectly prepared. Order it rare, and rare it comes. Order it medium-well, and that's how it comes. The beef is of the highest quality, the seafood is fresh. The garlic mashed or baked potatos are excellent. I do wish they would include a green vegetable as part of all entrees, but that is about the only complaint possible. The garlic toast, by the way, is very special indeed, and addictive.

Meat, seafood, pasta and more...they have it and do it all excellently! The garlic toast is amazing. I almost always get the ribeye with a spinach salad and sauteed vegetables. Mmmmm

The menu and decor have remained the same since the 60s. It's a 1960s supper club. Seafood is a bit greasy, steaks are o.k. Their black and blue salad is a definite winner. People talk about the garlic toast- It is greasy and delicious. The martinis are excellent. The steak and shrimp were okay- not noteworthy. Service from crabby midwestern small-town college students. meh

We came to stay in Lacrosse late one Saturday evening after biking in SE Minnesota. Thinking there would be many great restaurants in the downtown area, we parked on a downtown street and proceeded to look for a restaurant. To our dismay, we found that there just weren't that many restaurants and the ones we saw didn't serve the type of meal we were looking for. When we got back to our car, we noticed a restaurant right next to our car. It was Diggers and it had a big neon sign advertising prime-rib and steaks. How we missed it when we got out of the car, I'll never know. We went in and had a great meal. The sirloin steak I got was the best I've ever had. The mushrooms on the steak were wonderful! Accompanying bread, salad and potatoes were superb. My wife had a steak salad and enjoyed it. If you are ever in LaCrosse, you should visit this restaurant. It's great. An added plus is it's proximity to the river and a neat river park. Perfect for taking a romantic walk afterwards.
