“a magnificent place”
Reviewed June 14, 2009

The shrine took me by surprise with it's simplicity and splendor. The main church is stunning in it's location and design, a somehwat Tuscan/Romanesque style building with great attention to detail. The shrine is dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Virgin of all the America's, and is perfectly placed in the lovely Wisconsin countryside. There is a smaller chapel that illuminates the immediate surroundings with amazing candle power at dusk. The hillside location is breathtaking. it seems that divine intervention was at work here, I didn't want to leave.

“Spirtuality in the hills”
Reviewed April 17, 2007

The complex is dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Our Lady of Guadalupe) and there statutes of her around the complex. The vistor's center is pleasant and contains a gift shop and a restaurant (Culina Mariana). From there you head up a trail into the hills that takes you to the Votive Chapel, which is a building housing nothing except 765 candles that you can light. The trail continues up until it comes to the actual church which is not finished (thus the nuetral rating). After the church the trail takes you to it's last stop, 14 bronze reliefs depicting the Passion of Our Savior. It's a good walk up the bluff and very pretty and will be a wonderful place when it is complete.
