My recent stay at the Days Hotel LaCrosse was a family visit, which included our dog. First of all, travelers might be confused by the name "Days Hotel." We were looking for the "Days Inn" and thought that we had the wrong location, but this is the right place: Days Hotel and Days Inn are the same. (With so much emphasis on brand loyalty and brand identity in today's society, you'd think they would keep the established brand name.)
For people like us who are traveling with pets, note that there is a $15 charge per night for a pet in the room. Pets are not allowed to be left alone in the room for any length of time, either. (This can make dining out a bit of a problem.) It wasn't exactly pet-friendly, but it wasn't bad either.
We had a room on the first floor with 2 double beds. There were convenient entrances to the hotel from front, back, and side doors. Our room was big, with lots of room to move around and leave luggage. The room included a small table, two chairs, television with a full range of television programs, coffee maker that dispensed into single cups (with plenty of regular coffee for 2 people!). Toiletries were included and we had 4 thick bath towels. This was a non-smoking room; it was clean and neat.
We had one dinner in the hotel and a breakfast. I didn't think that the dinner was particularly good; however, my companions rated it "fine" and even "very good." Breakfast was included and is self-serve. It was the usual, average hotel fare: cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, mini muffins, toast, juice, coffee, and a few fresh fruits (apples and oranges). Again, some of my companions thought it was good. I would like a few more healthy options, but you can make do with an egg and fruit.
The location is convenient for exploring the area. We went hiking on the rail trails and in the state parks. There is lots to do in the area if you like the outdoors. With the exception of one rather peevish person who didn't seem too welcoming when I said I had my dog, people at the front desk were very helpful and prepared with directions to local sites.
