The conditioning was unbelievably nice. The course layout was a joy as well. This course is overlooked compared to the Straits but worth playing for sure.

While we were visiting Kohler, several people mentioned that they prefer Blackwolf Run over Whistling Straits. I really cannot figure out what they were talking about because the overwhelming thought I had while playing Blackwolf Run was how it did not seem much different from many courses I've played.

The prices are steep but this is a resort style restaurant. The service was stellar. The menu unique mix of traditional and wild-fare. The poached pear salad was probably one of the most memorable salads I've ever had...simple, elegant, and I could have eaten two of them and been satisfied before getting to the main meal even. Smaller portions as expected in a high end restaurant, but that only let you actually eat 3 courses (appetizer, main meal with salad, and dessert).
The creme bruele flan was an awesome finish. They also have a very unique selection of micro-beers and hard ciders. I am sure if I go back to WI, I'll be stopping in again.

Not the sprawling beauty of Whistling Straits but the courses are hard as heck, perfectly manicured and fit into the natural surroundings much more than WS. Salmon running up the river was an added bonus. Pete Dye's greens are evil.
