It is a castle that houses many departments including a specialty market offering more than 500 cheeses, wines and specialty items from Wisconsin and around the world, an in house bakery featuring desserts, kringles and breads (famous for its cheese and jalapeno cheese bread) baked daily, a restaurant popular for its many generously portioned cheese & meat sandwiches and featured burger and sandwiches of the month and a pub, well known for it's Wisconsin beers on tap and famous Bloody Mary (don't forget the beer chaser, a Wisconsin tradition!). Don't forget to pick up a souvenir in the gift shop on your way out!

How can you resist stopping for cheese, beer, pastry, and junk food on any trip to Wisconsin. There's a cow inside to take cheesy pictures with too. Lots of souvenirs too. I try to stop every time we head into Milwaukee. Good people watching too!

“A first (mixed) impression.”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

We finally had the opportunity to visit Mars Cheese Castle on a visit pass-through and we were quite pleased and somewhat surprised. We selected a few of the hot pepper cheeses that are hard to find in our area. What surprised us is the multitude of other products offered which we found quite extensive overall. While no one area has an ultimate variety in of itself, overall you can find most any complement to the selection of cheeses offered. The beer, wine, chocolates, jams, honey, breads, spreads, crackers, just to mention a few rounded out a full assortment. While I expected a larger and more extensive selection of cheese varieties, you should not miss this unique place. Having a place to enjoy your selections at the bar, indoor and outdoor seating makes it all the more inviting.

“Great Place to Stock UP on Cheese!”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We love the cheese castle and anytime we pass thru Miwaukee stop by and buy a lot of cheese. The stores building used to be older and smaller. But a few years ago they rebuilt and now it's quite large for a cheese place and it's fun for the kids to see.

You can dine in at the restaurant and at the bar.

It's a nice place with a limited variety of cheeses. However the cheeses they have are all great. They also have local and import beers/wines.

We stopped at the castle on our way to Lake Geneva for some snacks to bring to our rented condo. What a disappointment! The cheese selection is mediocre at best! I think Trader Joe's has a better and cheaper selection. I was looking for unusual cheeses with unique favors and was surprised that the selection and deli were worse than my local Jewel. The few samples they had out were so itty bitty-skimpy-stingy that you couldn't tell what the cheese tasted like. Crackers weree way overpriced. This is a complete tourist trap. Skip it!
