“Great views of the Harbor”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

I stayed here twice in the month of March 2013. First stay my room was very outdated but clean with great view of the Harbor. The second visit I got upgraded to a new remodeled room, boy what a difference in the two rooms. Breakfast food is free with stay and above average, everyone was very nice at the front desk. Indoor pool was small and hot tub was not working. Conference Center located at the hotel would have been vice for business travel. Walking distance to good food and views of harbor.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a remodeled room with harbor side view.

We stayed one night, following a family wedding held at the hotel. The hotel is under renovation, so I won't nit pick about the peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. The room was clean and extremely quiet, despite being right near the elevator. The rooms on either side of us were occupied, but we didn't even hear any plumbing noise. Our room, 403, had a lovely view of the harbor.

Because of the land the hotel is built on, there was 1/2 a flight of stairs to get to the breakfast area / lobby, as well as a short exterior flight of stairs to get to entrance "C" from the parking lot. Since my husband is disabled it wasn't ideal, but workable. For someone in a wheelchair, it would be a real problem. There wasn't a handicapped accessible room when we checked in, but they offered a shower chair, which was in the room by the time we unloaded the car and got to the room.

The hotel was full, so there wasn't any seating when we went for breakfast about 9 am. A staff member did pull some chairs out of a closet without being asked to do so. The gesture was very much appreciated, but we opted just to stop for breakfast on our way home so we'd have chairs and a table.

I'm from Kenosha and live out of town, but visit about 2x/year and always stay at the BW harborside. Overall, my wife and I are pleased with the rooms and service, great location. On the last visit just a few weeks ago I noticed there was a lot of noise, partying of college students is my guess. Access to the hotel through the side door is easy as the door is not locked and often wedged open. The management should fix these problems to keep my loyalty and improve the quality.

We were a bit hesitant based on latest reviews but took a chance and glad we did. Sneaky clean, pleasant and friendly staff and a fantastic harbor view. Highly recommended. The first floor is being renovated but that caused no problem at all.

We stayed here as part of a package deal with the Kenosha Marathon. The room was similar to the pictures. It was clean and comfortable. One bed was squeaky, the other wasn't. The mattresses were rather soft, but this is a personal preference. The whirlpool was a little short on whirl, but it was clean and hot.

Although many guests were there for the marathon, which started at 7 a.m. The desk said they could only "try" to get bananas, bagels, and beverages available before 7. "Maybe" is as good as "no" since we had to have a dependable source of breakfast and we were all walking to the race. (The dump we stayed in last year opened their full breakfast room at 5 for runners.) They would not allow us to check out even an hour late, but suggested that we shower in the pool area if we needed to after the race. The desk personnel the next day considered this crazy talk because checked out is checked out. With a little effort and no cost, they could have gotten a lot more goodwill.

We did see a vanload of Carthage students dropped off, but had no problems with noise or traffic, even though it was Friday night.

Room Tip: Newer, lakeside, away from dorms.

After suffering through what is undoubtedly the worst room in this hotel (302)-my window faced a brick wall, it's somewhat difficult to be objective. The front desk staff was very friendly and nice, even though they were not able to comply with a late checkout request. Because of a special event, they did put out some of the breakfast items early, which was much appreciated. The ancient tube tv's in the rooms are relics, and the layout of the hotel is bewildering. Parking is convenient, and the hotel is in the happening part of Kenosha.
