This is a great bed and breakfast. Almost next to the Sparta bike trail. Accommodations were great and the breakfast was wonderful. They serve an excellent brunch on Sunday. The inn keeper is very nice.

I see it's been awhile since someone reviewed this B&B and unfortunately I booked based on the reviews As an anniversary get-away, the place is functional but not romantic. There is nothing to do in or near Hustler (except bike, which we did) and no place to eat (except little 'dives' which we skipped). We had to hang out in the parlor since there was no seating in our room. We were the only guests, which was good because every step we took squeaked. And so did the bed! Breakfast was pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, served on Corelle dishes--nothing fancy. Plus expired creamer cups for the coffee. For the price, we would have done better at a nice hotel and gone out for a nicer breakfast.

The Fountain Chateau is the perfect place to stay if you have plans to ride the great bike trails in this pretty part of Wisconsin. The old building has been beautifully restored, and our room (the Elizabeth Barrett Browning) was spacious, well appointed, and very clean. For breakfast, we were served a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage links, and strawberries topped with sour cream and brown sugar. I thought the price ($136 total, including all taxes) was very reasonable.
Like me, you have probably never heard of Hustler, Wisconsin. It is a small town, but it's less than a ten minute drive to reach Interstate 90. There is a bar next to the inn that serves food; we saw some folks tossing horseshoes out in the back. There is also a bowling alley in town where you can eat. Those are the only dining choices, but you have lots of choices if you want to go for a bike ride.
The Fountain Chateau is just a stone's throw from the Omaha Bike Trail. This is a beautiful trail with lots of rocky outcroppings and a cool tunnel. We saw some sandhill cranes feeding in a field just off the trail south of Hustler. If you ride north for three miles, you'll be in Camp Douglas. If you ride south ten miles, you will be in Elroy, where you can pick up the Elroy-Sparta Trail, the 33 mile-long granddaddy of Rails To Trails bike paths. The 400 Trail also originates in Elroy, and you can ride it all the way to Reedsburg. It's only a twenty mile drive from Hustler to Elroy, if you want to start your ride there.
The best thing about the Fountain Chateau is the innkeeper, Susanne. She is a truly sweet person, friendly but not overbearing. We really enjoyed talking to her. As we left, she told us to come back sometime. I told her that we would, and I plan on keeping my promise.

We stayed at this very nice B&B for two nights and could not have been treated better. Susanne was a very nice and welcoming innkeeper and prepared two excellent breakfasts buffets and tasty coffee both mornings of our stay. Our room was beautiful and aside from the slightly squeaky bed, everything was clean and well maintained. The common areas are beautifully decorated, warm and comforting. The purpose of our stay was a couple's getaway, but also to bike the nearby Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail. We drove 20 minutes or so to Elroy to pick up the trail there and biked 15 miles through one of the trail's three tunnels to the town of Wilton, and enjoyed a very nice lunch at the small cafe there. After our biking excursion, we returned to the Chateau and enjoyed a quiet afternoon before driving 30 miles to Wisconsin Dells to a wonderful, secluded supper club called Ishnala...at the suggestion of a fellow occupant at the B&B. Couldn't have asked for a nicer weekend!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Elizabeth Browning Room...bed could use a new box spring, but other than that, room...

My wife surprised me with a wonderful weekend getaway to this nostalgic and elegant "surprise" in the Wisconsin countryside. On arrival we were greeted by the innkeeper, Suzanne, with a good old-fashioned and heartwarming greeting as she promptly showed us to the Monet room on the second floor and our home for the next two nights. The room was warmly furnished and provided a view on two sides.
The parlor was well furnished with reproduced period furniture and accessories. The cozy dining area was well-appointed with Scandinavian style furnishings and arranged in either 2- or 4-place settings close enough to allow conversation sharing with the other guests.
The kitchen served every need for the preparation of the varied and tasty menus and abundance of culinary reward. Suzanne and her well qualified staff provided for our every need. This is a "must" for those connoisseurs of the B&B scene. This was a weekend not soon to be forgotten. Thanks to all for making it so.

Our bicycling group (12 of us) stayed at Fountain Chateau for a weekend of biking in the hills and valleys of this gorgeous part of Wisconsin. The really wonderful B&B was perfect for our group. Susanne, the innkeeper, is available whenever needed; she and her assistants keep the place spotless. They also cooked breakfast and brunch and prepared a special Saturday night dinner for us. The building was updated by Susanne with natural woodwork everywhere (no sour old carpet and geegaws in this place), large bedrooms, nice bedding, fresh bathrooms and great soundproofing. The common areas are inviting and provided a gathering space for conversation and reading in the large living room and games in the dining room after dinner; there also is an outdoor deck. A Wisconsin fish fry is served Friday night at HootersBowl (not that Hooters) two blocks away--really fun for us city folk; unfortunately we did not have time to use the 4-lane bowling alley! Hustler is an quiet village on a county road very close to I-90 and I-94. Access to the Omaha Trail, a gorgeous, seal-coated former railroad bed trail leading to the Sparta Elroy Trail and the 400 Trail, is a block away.

I belong to a quilting church group in Hustler and each Wednesday for about a year we go to the Chateau for lunch. A real treat ,
The food is delicious and Suzanne varies the menu, with seasons in mind. Also the price is reasonable for a generous meal. We have always looked forward to see what surprise Suzanne is serving on Wednesday, it is always remarkable. So from the quilters in Hustler and you are in the Hustler area try lunch at the Chateau..
