A good place for a coffee and a quick bite of healthy style food along the Broadway block near the bridge that takes you to the Meyer Theater and the Fox River walk. So, whether you walk or drive to get to this place it's a pleasant outing and conveniently located.
The food is very good for the price and there are items available for the gluten intolerant and the vegetarian. Some of it is different and unique to the "old timers" but if you ask the right questions then you will get ready answers.
The ordering process re where to line up and how to obtain your food is not apparent to the newcomer. Again, ask and you shall receive the answers but it is unfortunate that a little signage is not added.
The one disappointment is that we were visiting the area on a Sunday morning and would have liked to get a couple of things from the deli but it was closed. The other is that the style of occupancy and table claiming is very loose so people will tend to linger with their reading material, laptops and mobile devices thereby taking seats from those who are trying to find a place to land.
There was one table available during our visit which was located on the upper level when we were there so we were not circling trying to find a spot. Good thing because the lower level had a group of 8 students working on a project who were not going any place. Don't know how the owners permit this because there was one cup of coffee among them and they were distracting to anyone nearby who may wanted to have a casual pleasant conversation.
In other words, if you're a newcomer there as we were, prepare to be very flexible and ready to roll with the punches as you learn the ways of this business. Whether or not the inconveniences will effect your enjoyment of the food is a matter of individual differences.
