First, the particulars. We were part of a group that booked 10 rooms at the Ramada for a basketball tournament (when you're part of a group, sometimes bad things can happen......). This was a Friday and Saturday night stay. We needed to be close to several high school in the Green Bay area, so the Stadium district was the place we looked for.
The positives. Quick, efficient check in. The shower head was at least 6' high, a necessity so one doesn't have to bend down constantly! It also was a "regular" water flow vs the dumb "low" flow some hotels try to slip by guests. Friendly front desk who was glad to assist when we sought take out Chinese food for dinner (they had a wide variety of choices). A large common area with couches for group gatherings.
The negatives. Immediately upon entering the hotel, it smelled of chlorine. So did the elevator, hallways, and even your room. The hotel has what they call an indoor waterpark (if that's what they call it...), so they must dump buckets of Chlorine in it in an attempt to sanitize it. The room walls were paper thin and great for sharing your conversation with total strangers. The carpet was disgusting and wearing shoes all the time was a requirement. The bathroom was terrible: (a) very small (2) all in one area (no "get ready sink separate from the toilet area) (3) no fan, causing the mirror to fog up if the shower was running (4) a laughable hair drier form the 1950's (I wish I would have taken a picture of it!). The ONE elevator for the property was dirty and constantly had water in it from kids returning from the pool area. The TV booted up to the inhouse station (why do hotels insist on this?). The only ice machine was on the second floor. They offered a free buffet breakfast that was terrible. 2-3 items and all of them had seen their better days. On the second day, our team passed on the free breakfast and went out to find more suitable food. Think of it, we would rather spend more money than eat what was offered.
Ok, I'll stop now.................you get the idea. If the attempt is to market to families because they have a quasi-waterpark, they are totally mistaken. It is not kid nor family friendly because of the bathrooms being so small (how to get multiple people ready with an all inclusive 6x8 room? The paradox is if you were staying on business and didn't care about the waterpark, your room could be considered acceptable (if cleaned). Somehow, though, I think...More
