We want to try fish boil at door county, so we went to there with my parents-in-law, they have good inside and outside setup. Fish Boil's schedule are very frequent so you don't need to wait for too long to see the fish boil process. The rest. outside yard connect with other stores so you can shop around while waiting. They have people explain it while they do it. Serving starts right away after they finish the process. Very good portion for each of us and good environment for family and couple. Recommend to everyone. We like it.

If you're looking for a good fish boil, go anywhere but here! My husband and I were looking for a great Door County Fish Boil experience, but we were really disappointed by the experience at Pelletier. We entered and were forced to wait in line for quite awhile to pay, get our drinks from the bar (no table service) and be seated--which is a first come, first serve free for all. The alcohol they served was terrible. We were lucky enough to get a table outside, though so we did get to enjoy the quaint location and beautiful evening. The fish boil itself was pretty cool, but that was the only highlight of our evening. We were served our food about 3 minutes after the food was taken off the fire, leading me to suspect that our meal might not have actually been served from the kettle, but might have been prepared in the kitchen. Our server was less than professional and we had to ask repeatedly for her or the bus boy to remove the sodas from the patrons who had sat at our table previously. Then, they brought out our meal on divided plates--yes, the type you were served meals on in school! The food was very bland, but edible. The fish was warm, not hot, which further fed my suspicion that our food hadn't come from the boil we'd just witnessed. The bread was limp and fell apart when we buttered it. I held out hope that dessert might redeem the place, but worst of all, the "Door County cherry pie" was surely made with canned pie filling (it tasted like Wilderness Brand) and was way too sweet. We were extremely disppointed and will absolutely not return the next time we're in Door County.

This WI tradition is interesting and entertaining. Essentially, they have a large, black iron pot of water boiling, with a wood fire underneath. Potatoes, whitefish and onions are added at various times, and cooked for different lengths of time, then kerosene is added to the fire at the end of the cooking, a huge flame of fire shoots up and over the pot, which then "boils" over, bringing the fish oils up and out of the pot. I hope I got that right! Anyway, fun to watch and capture on film, with a little history/cultural/cooking lesson thrown in for good measure. The meal was OK-potatoes and onions very good, whitefish OK. You should be prepared for the task of removing the skin of the fish and deboning it, but they give you instructions on a printed paper, and can advise you if you still need help. The meal also includes a piece of cherry pie and all drinks-pop, water, milk, tea or lemonade. $15.50/person (adult). Service was friendly. Restaurant decor OK. Pleasant evening. I do recommend attending a fish boil, though any restaurant that provides them would be about the same, I am guessing.
