“Great Location but....”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This place is very well located next door to the Park and within walking distance to shops and other attractions. The rooms were clean but spartan and not very modern. We were expecting a bit more....

clean, nice rooms with great location. At the entrance of peninsula state park, the motel is nice and quaint and is connected with restaurant which has good diner type food. it is no 4 star resort but is quite lovely for what it is - a nice place to sleep.

We enjoyed our four day stay while sightseeing in Door County. If you enjoy really good meals, very clean rooms, and a great staff genuinely interested in your satisfaction, this is the place for you. If you need ultra modern facilities to be happy you should look somewhere else. Julie's operation is located in a 60's style, very well kept, motel which is more than adequate. Our only suggestion for improvement is to increase the size of the bathrooms and replace older air conditioners. A multi year remodeling plan is underway but will take several more years to complete, so if you need a larger bathroom you can request one of the upgraded rooms with advance reservations. Any missing amenity is more than compensated for by the motel location, next to the State Park, and its location in Door County, making it very easy for great day trips after you "contribute to the local economy" in the great selection of town-center shops. We stumbled on the greatest lodging value in Door County and the No Vacancy sign on their door indicates others already know about it, so make reservations early.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the newly remodeled rooms.

My family and I stayed here for a week and had a great time. Loved everything about my stay at Julie's except the air conditioner in my room was ancient (looked to be at least 25 yrs old) and really needs to be replaced. The one in my parents room was new and worked so much better. I loved the motel cafe (yummy food) the grounds, the proximity to the state park and lots of shops just a few blocks away. We already booked our rooms for next year. We'll be back!

people standing outside our room was to much&to
constant. In good conscience I could not recommend
this motel! Call it what they may,it was a very small

We stayed at Julie's for a July weekend and found it very pleasant. Breakfast at the cafe was also very good. Despite being an older place, our room was very clean. The little sitting area was handy, and the flat screen tv a nice upgrade to the room. My wife called the room "quaint". Hard to beat the location. Finding a parking spot in Fish Creek can be a real pain at busy times, so the location was great as we easily walked to all the shops and restaurants we wanted to hit. Location is why we prefer Fish Creek to begin with, as we made more than one trip north to Sister Bay and south to Egg Harbor. For people who like to bike Peninsula, it's the perfect spot, right at the park entrance. While we didn't use it, the small gazebo in front of the rooms was getting a lot of use, mainly families playing cards.

Julie’s Motel is a perfect stay for the correct guest. It has a great location at the entrance to Peninsula State Park and across the street from Nor-Door Bicycle Store. Next door to their restaurant that serves great food at a great price.
Unfortunately for us more mature guest it does not meet up to our standards. The bathrooms are very small and have almost no room for your belongings. The couch has seen better days and because I carry a bit more weight than I should sagged when I sat down and made a settling sound. Needless to say electrical outlets were a bit at a premium, but I did expect that.
Bottom line I was looking for price and I got what I paid for and I truly believe that Shane (owner manager) will get these units up and running as they should be. The owners are great and will do anything within their power to make things comfortable for you, but they only do as much as the building will allow.
I really do look for great things from Julie’s Motel, but for us today, we must say good-bye and truly wish you the best.

Room Tip: Once again if you do not require much and want to be close to Peninsula Park this is your Motel - wi...
