My husband and I stayed in their only suite for two nights. It was great. Clean, spacious, and unique. We loved the fact that it wasn't just a typical hotel. The restarant there is really neatly decorated, and the bar was great. It is within walking distance to other places in Fennimore. A fall drive north is beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay somewhere unique.

There could be so much more done to make this hotel a warm and welcoming place to visitors in the western Wisconsin area. As someone mentioned, the entrance and staircase to the rooms were dark and unappealing as a first impression. The rooms upstairs are better, but fairly basic.
The man at the reception desk was not very helpful answering our questions concerning different places to visit. We did have gray skies and rain so that added to our dismal weekend. That said,
I think there could be improvements to make travelers feel more welcomed. There seemed to be only one other couple staying in the hotel when we were there.

This is not your cookie-cutter hotel. It is in an old brick building that was originally built in the early 1900's. We were disconcerted when we arrived in 103 degree heat and discovered only a fan in the lobby. We were immediately assured that the suite had A/C and it was already on. Whew! The climb to the second floor got hotter and hotter with each step. When we opened the door to our suite, we were pleasantly surprised. It was lovely: living room/kitchenette and bedroom separated by a huge jacuzzi--and COOL. Everything has been redone. Pluses: good on-site restaurant and lounge, friendly and helpful staff, great bed, super clean, good free internet, 2 interesting sitting rooms. Cons: no elevator (only 2 floors), have to bring ice or get it from the bar, no phones, pool or fitness center.

Room Tip: Only the suite has a mini-fridge and microwave.
