“Great Place Great Town”

We stayed at The Lodgings during the Fyr Bal Festival in Ephraim. We stayed in "Bill's Room" that had a very comforatable bed and great decor. The price could not be beat for only $80.00 a night. The hotel is situated right in the middle of Ephraim near all of the restaurants and steps away from the water. It was our first trip to Door County and the next time we return we will be staying at the Lodgings at Pioneer Place.

We have enjoyed traveling to Door County many times over the years, and have stayed in quite a few lovely motels and condo's. But this past April I stumbled on the Lodgings at Pioneer Lane, while looking at Door County info on the internet. I looked at their website, which included several pictures, and decided to book a reservation. Well! We have found our new "home away from home!"

We chose to stay in Helen's Suite, a delightful three rooms which give you the feeling of being in a log cabin. It was very cozy, decorated with warm colors, a wonderful fireplace, and COMFORTABLE furniture from which to enjoy watching the fire. There was a small kitchen area, but just large enough - a sink, coffeemaker, microwave, refrigerator - with an icemaker!! - and a collection of dishes for our use. Little touches - like the small basket of coffee and tea with the sugar packets held in a pretty china cup - gave it a personal feeling. The rooms are decorated in such a way that you at once feel a sense of comfort and relaxation. A mixture of new and antique, small paintings and vases on the fireplace mantel, a basket of magazines and books on the hearth, a hand-crafted soap dispenser in the bathroom. There was a television, though we never turned it on once.

In the very large bathroom, there is a walk-in shower (Helen's Suite is completely handicap accessible), and the towels are big and fluffy. And it's a good shower - the water's nice and hot and the water pressure was consistent and strong.

I've saved the bed for last! We slept so good! The kingsize bed is so comfy! Wonderful goose down pillows and soft, soft bedding. None of that stiff, scratchy white stuff you usually find in a motel. But then, this isn't a motel. It isn't really a bed and breakfast either. It's a little slice of Heaven, tucked just a short way off Highway 42 in Ephraim. We were there pre-season, so I know it was quieter than usual. But I think the seclusion would allow for a nice quiet atmosphere most any time. You're not very far off the road, but you have the sense that you're away from the busyness. And while they don't offer meals on site, there is a very good restaurant just feet from the Lodgings, called the Chef's Hat. We enjoyed a great breakfast there and a really nice chat with the waitress.

The Mulliken's are wonderful hosts. We had occasion to visit with them a couple of times while we were there and were even given a short tour of their other accommodations. Each suite we saw was as lovely as the next - roomy and very nicely appointed.

We will continue to visit Door County as often as we can - it's a very special place for us. But we will never again wonder about where to stay. We'll just go "home" to Helen's Suite!

The inn keepers at The Lodgings made our stay a delight. While we thought that not having breakfast included would be a negative it actually made the stay more enjoyable because we were free to seek out a wonderful location each morning. Ephraim offers the best sunset views, best fish boil at The Old Post Office, best breakfast at The Chef's Hat, and best dessert at Wilson's. The lodgings in our opinion add to the "best list" of best place to stay with spacious clean rooms, free bikes, central to the county for golf and wine exploring and in the best small town in Wisconsin. We will be back again!

I stayed in Helen's Suite and it was wonderful. Very quiet, although everything was quiet in early May. Spotlessly clean, close parking, close to shops and right across the street from the water. Ephraim is a lovely little village. Only suggestions would be to replace the showerhead (water deposits pretty bad), replace facial tissues with full box, not one that is almost empty, and consider putting in satellite tv, cable channels very limited. Other than that, the room was great. The soaking tub is terrific and the kitchenette area is just right. Would definitely stay there again, maybe try a different room next time!

First experience in Door County and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Stayed in both Helen's Suite and the cabin room and both were cozy. The fireplaces and whirlpools are a nice touch especially after long hikes and cool nights. A great central location to visit many things. Hugh and Alicia are terrific. Have good suggestions for things to do. We will definitely be coming back again and will recommend it to others.

We stayed in the Leaf Room for our anniversary weekend this summer and absolutely loved it. A wonderful value for the price, the room was extremely large and well appointed. Sitting on the private balcony at sunset was beautiful, you can see part of the lake from the deck. We loved all the little extras, such as books, magazines, playing cards, bubble bath, coffee tea and popcorn too! The bathroom was very large and luxurious as well. I would definitely recommend this room to anyone that wants a luxurious getaway for a good price! Great location, too, steps from Wilson's.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Ephraim! My husband and I spent a week over the 4th of July holiday week and this was our first stay with the lodgings. I know we will continue to return upon repeat visits to Door County! You cannot find a better place that has a better value (they didn't raise their rates just to take advantage of a holiday as did the other establishments), they are within walking distance to The Old Post Office restaurant, Wilson's, the beach, the marina, and many shops--and the rooms are enormous! Other places would consider it a suite! You can tell that Hugh and Alicia take great pride in their establishment as it is spotless, the rooms are decorated to the hilt, and the amenties abound! We stayed in the blossom room and loved the privacy and the covered balcony--my favorite place to sit and read a good book! You can borrow videos to watch, you can borrow the bikes to ride and they provide plenty of information in the room for additional sightseeing and restaurant hints. I also enjoyed the complimentary wifi access! It was so private, peaceful, and I didn't hear any of the noises one would typically hear in a "hotel" setting.
