Our goal: To get away from it all during spring break to a place that would be quiet and romantic.
As most people go to Door County during the summer and picturesque fall, we ventured up there over Easter weekend thinking it would be quiet and relaxing. It was. Edgewater Resort is right on the water front. The front desk attendant was super sweet and very helpful with restaurant choices and activities. They have menus of all the nearby restaurants so we browsed a little before deciding where to go. Upon entering our room I was breathless. The floors are wood and starkly clean. From the doorway I could see across the kitchen and living room through the living room door onto the veranda and the frozen bay. Light was everywhere. The kitchen was truly completely equipped including wine bottle openers and wine glasses. The living room was comfortable and cozy with a fireplace which could be enjoyed from either the living room or the bedroom. (One of those built into the wall units). Fire at the touch of a button-Perfect. The bedroom had a very comfortable king bed and a whirlpool tub that we definitely enjoyed. I was very impressed with the layout, the decor and above all the cleanliness. Free wifi is available though who needs it when trying to get away right? Our stay was just two days and believe me I wish I could have stayed longer but duty called. We did manage to take a short walk to the Eagle Point Lighthouse at Peninsula State Park. This winter being what it is...there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground but it was still very enjoyable.
When you go please take a moment to browse the visitor's diary on the coffee table in the living room of all rooms at this resort. Everyone seems to leave an entry on their way out. You won't be able to help yourself either. You can read about someone years ago or about the last person who stayed. Either way you will find charming stories and excellent advice on where to eat and shop or just sites to see.
As enjoyable as it was...I can only imagine what this may feel like with the warmth of the summer or the changing leaves in the fall. I can almost see myself on the veranda enjoying a summer breeze while gazing out over the bay. It is a future memory. We will be back to fulfill it.
Thank you for a wonderful memorable stay.
