“Best location in Door”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2012

Ephraim is the town to stay because of the location and the expanse of strip along the water, seldom seen in other areas of Door county. This hotel is clean and bright and will meet your needs well if you know what to expect. The suite we stayed in was on the second floor over looking the post office restaurant and fish boil fire pit. The hotel staff did attempt to encourage us to get a "better view" for about $75.00 per night more, we were staying 5 nights so we stuck with our choice. We were very glad because in truth, there is no bad view at this place and each room on the upper levels have balconies with rockers that over look the water. Unless you absolutely must see water from every angle while you are in your room, then there really is no need to pay the higher rate because the water is there the moment you open your door. The kitchen was good but bring your own frying pan if you want to cook eggs because theirs is not non stick. We had our 11 and 14 year old with us and it worked great. The pool is clean and refreshing, the view is awesome and the rooms are all updated and comfortable. I do think that if you want the full experience, do not stay on the first floor because you will lose the view. Also, ask if your room is right in front of a staircase, those rooms appeared to be quite noisy when people arrive. Only criticism is that if you stay in the summer know that the air conditioning is in the living room only so the kids tend to freeze and the adults need to keep the door open and use the ceiling fan in the bedroom to be reasonably comfortable. It was record high temps when we stayed so it would not be a problem most of the year.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms by the stairs. First floor directly in front of pool will have limited view, choose high...

We spent five nights in one of the cabins at Edgewater. Although we could not see the lake clearly from the cabin, it was only a short walk to the water. Staff was very friendly and the cabin was very nice, although a little spendy. We will probably stay again, because Ephraim is such a neat town and well located for all things on the peninsula.

Room Tip: The Chefs Hat is a great place to eat. Visit Cana Island Lighthouse.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Edgewater, however, one of the most important things in a hotel room are the beds, and these beds were miserably uncomfortable. Like a previous reviewer, we stayed in room 301, and woke up every morning with aching hips. Our 9-year-old had it even worse since he stayed on the pull-out bed that was as soft as a pile of bricks. The office staff was friendly, the pool was fun, the room was pretty and clean, and watching the sun set from the balcony was lovely, but when it comes down to it, if you can't sleep well in a hotel room, why go back? The management acknowledged the previous reviewer's complaint about the beds, now it's time they step up and take action to correct the problem.

Great location and wonderful views of Eagle Harbor. The rooms were a good size and clean. Hot tub in the bedroom and fireplace in the living room. Pool was smaller than expected, but the views from the property made up for it.
Kitchen was better equipped than expected and complimentary cherry wine was a bonus as Ephraim is dry municipality. The only one I know of in Wisconsin. With the number of wineries in the area it really isn't an issue. Just be sure to stop and grab some wine before heading to your room and starting the fireplace.
Directly across the street is Eagle Harbor and part of Peninsula State Park. The tourist office is also in front the property and has some valuable information as well as a lovely park bench from which to watch the sunset.

We gave this weekend as a Christmas gift to my parents. Rented the 2 bedroom cottage. Such a wonderful, quaint place. Had everything we could possibly need including the ability to being our dog.

We arrived late and the staff had our arrival package waiting for us. Great location overlooking the fish boil they have most nights. They have all the dishes there and the beds were comfortable.

The staff was wonderful! Every question we had was answered. My sister and I really enjoyed talking to them. We asked that they didn't tidy our room for the weekend as we had the dog with us and they heeded our wishes. When we requested a few things (toilet paper, etc) they were there within minutes. The $100 dog deposit was returned to us immediately at checkout since our pup behaved herself. :)

The location is ideal. The Edgewater has lake front land for their guests only. Only minutes from Peninsula State Park and within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.

It was a fantastic weekend. We'd definitely come back. Thanks Edgewater!

The room was so nice and spacious. Great views of the bay, great location. Now comes the "but". but our bed in Room 301 sucked. It was hard and very uncomfortable as well as the pillows. We both hurt in the morning and still a little the day after. Glad we only booked 1 night. We would love to return but only if we know the have replaced the mattresses. Hard to recommend for this reason only. Otherwise hands down, we would recommend this hotel.

Having grown up vacationing with my family in Door County the Edgewater Resort was always one of those places we wanted to stay and never got to. Fast forward a few (more than a few) years and I finally got to stay here. I was not disappointed. With a glorious view of the bay and just steps from the famous Anderson Dock this property is perfectly placed. I had a beautiful corner suite with a friend and we loved everything little thing about the suite. The whirlpool tub was luxury, the bed was super comfy, the view was fabulous, the fireplace was warm, and the decor was charming. It is still "off-season" in Door County but this is definitely a great time to go. Little to no traffic, locals who are friendly, and open spaces to roam. I highly recommend the Edgewater Resort! Clean and superb!

Room Tip: overlooking the water!
