Description: Wickman House is located in a historic lodge in Ellison Bay, Door County. Offering sandwiches from Paying tribute to the property's original owners and namesake, this historical landmark was reborn as Wickman House in 2012. The renovation and design of the property are dedicated to restoring its history with an eclectic blend of original decor from the early 1920's. Also true to the property's original purpose: the restaurant's focus is on sustainable agriculture, featuring a menu inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and gardens. Finally, the property's enhanced space strives to be a true gathering place, much like The Ellison Bay Lodge was nearly a century ago. The proprietors, chefs, and staff at Wickman House strive to provide their guests with the ultimate dining experience through professional service and the use of only fresh, sustainable foods. All seafood is humanely harvested and sustainably considered. Nearly all ingredients not arriving from the sea come from local Wisconsin farms, artisans, and growers. All baked goods, desserts, sauces, stocks, and soups are made in house from scratch, just the way the Wickman Family would have wanted.

This is a MUST DO in Door County. When the bartenders, Anthony and Mike greet people by name as they walk the door you know the locals love the food! This was the best meal I've every had in my life. Yes, really! The innkeepers at The Foxglove Inn recommended eating here when they knew we were going north for the day. The bartenders were amazing and both Anthony and Mike waited on us and chatted while making drinks. The rapport they had with each other was excellent and so fun to watch they have a great time with each other passing the bottle behind their backs to one another. We felt very special eating dinner at the bar. (We didn't have a reservation and it was an hour wait so we had the best time at the bar) Met other couples who were regulars!
I could have licked my plate clean it was so good. The bartenders say they do after hours when they eat! haha

Our dinners were delicious - excellent food, creatively prepared. Our waiter and the support staff were professional, pleasant and attentive. Complements to the chef! A few things that would improve the overall experience: it was very difficult to get a reservation. No one answers the phone, and we had to leave messages 3 times over 2 days before finally getting a call back. The tables are just a little too wide, and the main dining room is VERY noisy, so you really have to lean over the too-big expanse to hear your dinner companion. The wait staff rush to and from with the floor going thump thump all the time. Consider some ways to baffle noise. Finally, the rolls didn't live up to the rest of the food - tasted like supermarket bread.

The menu changes as the available fresh ingredients change. There's not a ton of choices like this in Door County and Wickman house is doing an awesome job.

This was recommended to me by a local gallery owner as "the place" to eat if you are into good food. While the wait was horrendous (due to a wedding party that was a half hour late and then sat an hour beyond expectations), the cocktail while I waited was top notch. The decor is spartan, but its an old farmhouse, so its very appropriate and doesn't distract from the food. Wait staff was incredible and knowledgable about what was being offered that evening. I had Monk Fish cheeks, which sounded odd but they were like perfect sea scallops. While generally not a fan of beets, the beet salad was tempting and worth the gamble. So if you are ever up in Door County, make a reservation and head to Wickman House.

We saw good reviews on trip advisor and had to check it out. We got there right at 5 to beat the rush with our 1.5 year old. Food was excellent, great place. They accommodated our son but kids menu was pricey. We will definitely be back, without child, next time.

All of the food is local and the drink menu had a lot of cool options. Overall, it's probably the nicest place we've been to in DC.
