Description: Wickman House is located in a historic lodge in Ellison Bay, Door County. Offering sandwiches from Paying tribute to the property's original owners and namesake, this historical landmark was reborn as Wickman House in 2012. The renovation and design of the property are dedicated to restoring its history with an eclectic blend of original decor from the early 1920's. Also true to the property's original purpose: the restaurant's focus is on sustainable agriculture, featuring a menu inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and gardens. Finally, the property's enhanced space strives to be a true gathering place, much like The Ellison Bay Lodge was nearly a century ago. The proprietors, chefs, and staff at Wickman House strive to provide their guests with the ultimate dining experience through professional service and the use of only fresh, sustainable foods. All seafood is humanely harvested and sustainably considered. Nearly all ingredients not arriving from the sea come from local Wisconsin farms, artisans, and growers. All baked goods, desserts, sauces, stocks, and soups are made in house from scratch, just the way the Wickman Family would have wanted.

This was recommended to me by a local gallery owner as "the place" to eat if you are into good food. While the wait was horrendous (due to a wedding party that was a half hour late and then sat an hour beyond expectations), the cocktail while I waited was top notch. The decor is spartan, but its an old farmhouse, so its very appropriate and doesn't distract from the food. Wait staff was incredible and knowledgable about what was being offered that evening. I had Monk Fish cheeks, which sounded odd but they were like perfect sea scallops. While generally not a fan of beets, the beet salad was tempting and worth the gamble. So if you are ever up in Door County, make a reservation and head to Wickman House.

We saw good reviews on trip advisor and had to check it out. We got there right at 5 to beat the rush with our 1.5 year old. Food was excellent, great place. They accommodated our son but kids menu was pricey. We will definitely be back, without child, next time.

All of the food is local and the drink menu had a lot of cool options. Overall, it's probably the nicest place we've been to in DC.

We have been traveling to the Door County area for years and try new restaurants each and every trip. I will say this is, by far, the best dinning experience we have had. In fact, it has compelled me to write my first online review ever.
After reading the story of how this place came to be, we decided to give it a try. We live in Chicago and have had some fantastic dinners; however, this place beats them all. The décor is fresh, clean, and white. The photos online do not do it justice. Set back on a small street off the main drag keeps this place secluded and quiet. After trying our appetizer ( Wisconsin Meat & Cheese Plate) we were convinced these two entrepreneurs knew their stuff. The service was incredible and we were surprised to see both owners walking about clearing tables, filling wine glasses and helping the wait staff. Dinner arrived and it was better than imagined. All ingredients are fresh and the plates were prepared with care. Our 10 year old son ordered the Lobster Club sandwich (he is as difficult to please as any 10 year old is) and rated it an 11 on a scale of 1-10 !
The menu is priced higher than the average restaurant in Door County, but you get what you pay for and will not be disappointed.
"Amazing" is an overused word these days and I have tried very hard not to use it in this review; however, I have no other way to explain our experience. The two owners and their staff should be proud of their accomplishments and have knocked it out of the park with this place. We cannot wait to return and share this place with our friends and family.

To celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary we wanted to find a place that serves local fresh made food. We stopped at a little bakery and the owner suggested Wickman House. We were not disappointed. We love to know where our food comes from. The fact that it is written on the menus is wonderful. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed and upscale at the same time.

This was our first visit. The decor is simple, clean, comfortable and chic. I loved the bow ties on the waiters. I felt like I was at a super cool Brooklyn restaurant. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was creative, local and delicious. We had the veggie burger, the artisan salad, a
Fish taco and the dessert combo. I can't wait to go back.
