“This chef could be at home in any fine dining establishment in Chicago!”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

The Chalet has been around for years, closed for awhile during the bad economy, and is now open again with an amazing new chef. My husband and I have been back there four times in the last six months and every meal has been fantastic. It's a small, rustic place, out in the middle of Wisconsin rural farmland. The decor is small town, cozy, well worn. The food is amazing and the presentation is right off the cover of Bon Apetit! My husband had the steak and prawns, I had roast duck, both specials for the night. From the salad, served with housemade dressings (try the Balsalmic reduction), fresh warm bread, to the amazing sides of vegetables, three cheese mashed potatoes, everything was perfect. The cherry sauce served with the duck was just the right tartness, not overly sweet. They are not open every night. I'd love to know where else to find this chef.

“Amazing find on Hwy A-Elkhorn!!”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

We had dinner at The Chalet on December 15th. It was truly amazing....Drinks, well poured, were followed by salad with home made dressings that were light and very flavorful leading on to a wonderful dinner. The pork chop was the largest and most tender I have EVER had! It was accompanied with 2 large shrimp that were lightly tossed in seasoned butter and briefly seared...yummy! My husband was in heaven with a perfectly done leg of lamb and delicious potatoes. The prices were very fair and well worth it! We would only have one suggestion...white table cloths and napkins on Saturday night. It is that good and would be very inviting and romantic for the area. After all, at The Chalet there is a chef...not just a cook. Bravo!

“A jewel of a restaurant”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Great food, intimate atmosphere, friendly staff, what more could you want? Full bar, great oysters, their fish is always fresh. The menu includes salads, steaks and burgers which I've never tried because I'm a fish person and love their fish dishes. Tried their Andouille and Alligator Sausage starter and it was big enough for a meal by itself. Service is always excellent. My favorite restaurant in the Lauderdale Lakes area.
