“Yes, the burritos are as big as your head!”

With only three tables to dine in, I think that the tendency is to order "to-go." Don't make this mistake-the friendly service coupled with free chips and salsa are a must for Elkhorn. For less than $6, you can order a burrito that feeds two adults and two kids (at least in our house). Kids love the giant cheese quesadillas and jarritos. This is a great lunch and dinner location. Just don't use the bathroom....tends to be unkept or broken. Be sure to do some grocery shopping afterwards for great deals like 8 for $1 limes.

Huge burritos for very little $. Not a place to sit and eat, but awesome carry-out. We "buddy up" at work and share a burrito for lunch. Now people are starting to order a full burrito each and take home the other half for a second meal. Not bad for about $6.

The burritos are absolutely the best and biggest I have eaten. I usually say that the scarier the Taqueria, the better the food, but this place isn't very scary, just quirky. It is in a small food market/carniceria and features only 3 tables. Don't expect Acai Berry margaritas with iguana uterus foam or fried ice cream, this isn't ChiChi's/Olive Garden, this is simply great taqueria food. The Burritos are fantastic (2.5 lbs) and are packed with flavor (but not greasy) and only about $4.50. The tamales are homemade and always a great value. The lamb barbacoa was some of the best meat I've tasted and the beef tongue is great too. Don't expect TexMex semi crunchy Ortega fried paste tacos, and don't eat here if you don't want it authentic. They will make the tacos "American Style" which to them means lettuce instead of cilantro and onions, but regardless, the tortillas are soft white corn (not flour), just like God intended. I presume that they would probably make a taco with a flour tortilla if you requested, but only because they are really nice people. They would probably need to light a Novena candle in your honor in an attempt to save your immortal soul from perdition, (thankfully, Novena Candles in the usual array of Saints are conveniently available in aisle #1 next to the instant masa and canned chipotle peppers. If you haven't figured it out yet, this isn't a place with romantic ambience or suitable for a candlelit dinner (but once again, you could buy a Virgin of Guadalupe Novena candle (remember:in Aisle #1) and place it lit on the formica table if you really need that sort of romantic ambience.
