My wife and I stopped in on our last day before leaving town for the week. I had the grilled chicken... awesome (I loved the bistro sauce), and she had a flatbread which was excellent as well. Nice atmosphere and great service! We will be back everytime we're in Elkhart Lake!

Hostess and owner were just out of line! Rushed us through our meal and would not serve us coffee and dessert. Will never return again.

We too were a party to the July 20th group of 10 mentioned below. We can truly say that in all our years of fine dining experience, we've never received such shabby and rude treatment. We've been customers of Lake Street during race weekends for over a decade. Service has always been "marginal" at best, however the food is above average....so we keep trying. No more!!! This year we hit rock bottom. As this is a small town, and Lake Street a small venue on a busy weekend, we knowingly make our reservations months (January) in advance. However, each year, Lynn ( the hostess and ex-wife of the owner) seems completely overwhelmed with the concept of taking reservations for this long standing mid-July key community event ( and revenue producing gold mine). When we called back in early July to confirm our upcoming reservation, she seemed completely flustered, not even clear which weekend I was referring to. She was also unable to confirm the timing of our reservation, due to being "unable to find her notes", and indicated that she "needed to call me back " in a few days. Eventually she did and confirmed a 7:30 reservation on Saturday, July 20th.......fortunately I wrote it down !! However, upon arrival on the designated date ( we arrived approximately 7:15) we were told we were late, and would have to "order quickly, as I need this table for an 8:30 group". In all our groups collective years of dining, we had never encountered such blatant rudeness and unprofessionalism. The food then began arriving at a rapid pace ( a new attribute for this venue, and the only positive encountered !!!). While still enjoying our main course, the checks arrived ( without request ). When one of our party requested coffee and a dessert menu, he was told by our waitress that could not occur, as they "needed the table" ( we could only assume that the "Pope" or some equivalent was their next guest). When we objected, " Attila the hostess" (AKA "Lynn") came by to confirm that we needed to " eat up / pay up and leave". When we asked whatever happened to customer service or the concept of pleasing the customers, she explained that "that concept went out of style years ago". By this point we really thought that we were on the TV show "What would you do", or a bad "Candid Camera". Sadly, we weren't!!!!

Finally the co-owner / ex-husband, came over to attempt to calm the rapidly deteriorating situation. While not backing off on Attila's demands, he did offer to cut our check(s) by 50%. While not our intent or concern, ( we just wanted to enjoy a nice relaxed meal with friends!) it was admittedly a generous offer.

Note; Our waitress ( all of 19 yrs) was terrific and thus was well tipped. She was really put under the gun to get us out QUICK by her boss, and was in no way responsible for this fiasco. I should also point out that our "group" was not a biker gang or a group of undesirables. To the contrary, it was made up of a group of 50-60 yr old professionals, more than willing to spend for a enjoyable dining experience.

There are several terrific professionally run restaurants in Elkhart Lake and the surrounding area, including "The Paddock Club", Siebkens, and Lola's at the Osthoff Resort, all with excellent food and customer focused service. However, we can think of zero reasons to set foot in "The Lake Street" after this unbelievable debacle.
One can only hope that the male half of the Lake Street ownership team, will choose to divert funds slated for the expansion of his wine cellar, to a much more pressing need.....an extensive "Dale Carnegie" course for the less than charming "Lynn".

Needless to say....we won't be returning!!

We've been traveling to Elkart Lake for years and have dined at Lake Street three times a year since they opened. We made our reservations for dinner for our group of eight six month ago. Upon arrival at the restaurant ten minutes before our reservation, we were told . . . 'you are late and you will have to be out of here in fifty minutes because we need the table'.
We were not late. Our dinner was lovely and the young serving staff was quite adequate.
However, our plates were snatched away quickly before we could even put down our forks. Moments later our bills were placed on the table. One in our group was still eating, looked up and said to the server, 'I'd like to have coffee and see the d essential menu'. Moments later, the manager came flying over to our table and stated, 'I am sorry, we can not serve you dessert. We need this table.'. After speaking with the management, they flew into a rage how we were late ( we were actually early). After arguing they agreed to cut the bill by iffy percent. That's now what we wanted. We wanted dessert. In the amount of time they argued with us, we could have bend served.
This is a place we frequent often, they now us by name. We were not loud or unruly. Amazing to have such rude treatment.
It was obvious they made the error in the reservation time and were trying to cover up their error by blaming us.
Too bad. Great food, good service HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT.
If you want A challenge in a dining experience and want to guess which witch will be riding her broom, then by all means go and enjoy the 'free' entertainment.

marinated flank steak on toast was amazingly delicious as was the arugala salad with red and yellow beets. The atmosphere is lively at lunchtime and the service friendly.
