“Just Stopped for Drinks”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We stopped for drinks on 6/29. Family members booked a room which was cute, a little dated but reasonable at $89. We all went outside at the tables to get some drinks. I ordered a pumpkin spice which was good but definitely was missing the "cream" as it was just stark with the pumpkin spice and no sweet creamy taste to it. Our friend asked for a Windsor and Coke but said if they didn't have it he would take a Seagrams and Coke. His drink came back and she said they didn't have Windsor so it was Seagrams. The drink was yellowish in color, not resembling the color of "Coke" but instead of 7-up perhaps? Sierra Mist? And we even mentioned it to the waitress that he asked for a Seagrams and COKE and she said, "yep, that's what that is" and we said since when is coke "clear" and she thought about it for a moment and was like "oh, yah, I see that." So she brought him back a correct drink and an apology for the mistake. My husband ordered a drink that had cherry brandy in it and his too came back clear. So the waitress went back in and came out and said the bartender put another shot in there but it's clear because it is distilled just up the road in their distillery. Okay, we have been to some bourbon distilleries and yes, some bourbons come out caramel colored (from the charring of the barrel) and some as clear as water. But there was not a cherry flavor nor a brandy flavor! I could taste the jalapeno syrup and the club soda, but no brandy. So not sure if they just didn't have all the ingredients for the drinks on their drink menu or what, but that experience was just the worse. And at those prices, you really should get it right. Not impressed at all nor would we ever stop to see if the food was any better than the drinks. We advise you continue on to Fish Creek and try the places there instead.

Room Tip: Only stopped for drinks

During a spur of the moment trip to Door County during Memorial Day weekend, Shipwrecked Inn was the only reasonably priced hotel in the area (+/- $100) that didn't have a "minimum stay" requirement attached to it (something to watch out for during this season!). It's location is very convenient to all the small towns/villages around Door County. Egg Harbor itself is a lovely town with great restaurants, bars, and shops.
The rooms have been recently updated (the photos on tripadvisor seem woefully out of date!), if fairly basic. Warm showers, flat screen tvs, and a personal fridge are all included in the room. There's no great decor or design, but if you're not planning to be in the room most of the day, there's nothing to complain about.
Most of the rooms are located on the front of the upstairs of the buildings, giving some decent views of the harbor or the village. As most have said, even though it's above a pub, there is NO problem with the noise whatsoever. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, giving us great advice as to where to go in town.
Overall, this is a good place for a night, but shouldn't be compared to the pretty cottages or rustic inns that dot the coast of Door County. It's a basic motel that has the added bonus of having a brew pub underneath it. If you're looking for rustic charm, this may not be the place for you.

Ate there last night with friends. Ordered a wine which was a sweet cabernet. I asked the bartender where the wine was from since sweet wine is usually a dessert wine. She immediately became defensive and said all of the wines are from Door County. When I asked about the separate listings on the menu, for sweet and regular wines she pointed out the heading which said from a particular door co. vinyard, as if I couldn't see that. She was crabby and brisk with my friend and me the rest of the night. Food was OK: salad very good, burgers OK. Doubt if I will go back. Too bad, cute place.

This is eating for the masses. Always busy and swamped with people. Located on the main business corner of Egg Harbor with a huge outdoor patio area this restaurants services burgers, sandwiches and beer! This is eating - not dining. And it's good for families with young children or those on a budget who need to share. Service was okay. Like many Door County restaurants they employ seasonal help.

We were Door County novices and used the web to find a place to stay which felt like throwing a dart at a map. Bingo--we lucked out with our choice. We found Shipwrecked and arranged for a three-night mid-week stay, receiving a 10% room discount. Great choice. The room was modest, clean, with a.c., good shower, working TV, and convenient parking. Wonderful location for walking around Egg Harbor and enjoying the local shops and scenery. Easy access to other Door County towns. We launched our stay with the beer sampler from the Shipwrecked microbrewery. Great fun and some tasty beers and reasonable bar food. We left a personal item in the room and they graciously mailed it back to us. We'd stay there again.

We stayed at the Inn just after Labor Day. Our room was clean (a must) and although located above a restaurant/brewery noise was not a problem. The park across the street is a good spot for sunset watching.

My wife and I stayed here for a fourth time this past week. Very clean and comfortable rooms and a great location. Be warned that the rooms do not have an iron or ironing board. Great for a quick getaway!
