Got a waterview room - view of the lake is wonderful but we were right beside one of the outdoor pools so it was noisy rather than relaxing. If you're here with kids and want the pool, this would be a great room, but if you want quiet ask for a room away from pools and common room outdoor decks. Rooms are small but adequate. Ours was clean and well stocked with kitchen equipment etc. Everything worked fine. Would probably come again if we could get a quieter room. Egg Harbor is a nice little town and there is a terrific market and several restaurants nearby.

We have been to Door County many times over the past 13 years with our 2 kids, and we have always stayed at The Landmark. It has some great features we just can't find anywhere else in Door County, such as the 4 pools, tennis courts, basketball court, shuffleboard, hot tubs in every building, water views, and full kitchens. The grounds are spacious, and nice, but have not been kept up as nice as they could have been over the years. The rooms are small for the price, and every year there has been some minor problems with each room we have stayed. Air conditioner not working properly, refrigeraor not working, sewer gas smells from the bathroom, shower door not sliding, screen door to balcony not working, no internet connection from room, uncomfortable beds, uncomfortable furniture, cleaning staff not very good, dirty carpeting, moldy smell. Each time we reported these things to the staff they were not very accomodating, especially since we have been such longtime customers. This could be a top notch resort, if they would just update it to the times we live in. Also the staff could be more customer service oriented, and maybe even greet you with a warm welcome.

Wonderfully wooded grounds and views away from, yet near, the hubbub of Door County. Kitchen well stocked for cooking, if desired, plus several picnic areas with grills nearby. Housekeeping staff (looked like mostly college kids) did a great job. Reservations placed our group of nine in two adjacent condos which worked out great. Condos were not large, but adequate. Quiet in the evenings except the air conditioners do make noise. A little warm in the loft bedrooms, but we were there during fairly warm weather. The outdoor pools have nice seating areas and towel service. Our family had a great vacation at the Landmark.

  • Liked — comfortably secluded yet near attractions
  • Disliked — noisy air conditioner (but glad it was there)

My Wife, My Daughter & I stayed here over the christmas holiday, the place was almost completely deserted so we had the whole complex to ourselves, the resort has 4 swimming pools, a hot tub & whirlpool in every building, our room was just yards from the Bay of Green Bay, so the view was amazing. Egg Harbor the closest town is less than a five minute drive away, there is also a 36 hole golf course on the resort. The towns of Fish Creek & Sister Bay are less than 30 minutes away so there is plenty to see & do for all the family.

We loved the landmark. We arrived very late at night (after 10:30) because we drove up after work. The desk clerk was very nice, explained the layout of the property and gave us our key to our room. We stayed in the Flagship building after reading other suggestions. The unit we stayed at was very well maintained. You could practically still smell the new carpet The views of the sunsets and Bay were breathtaking. I will agree, there wasn't a lot of storage space, but we had 2 adults, 2 children, a pack and play, highchair (both provided by the resort) and we still had enough places to store things. Our bedroom had a ceiling fan to keep us comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. We are planning to return this winter to take the kids back to experience the Winter beauty of Door County and can't wait to go back. P.S. We took another reviewer's suggestion and requested our room 1109. It's on the ammenities level (lower price) near the hot tub room (but far enough way that you don't hear any noice) and was newly remodeled. We'll be requesting that room again for our next stay.

It has been over a decade since my family last vacationed in Door County and we fondly remembered the Landmark resort. I was so happy to find that it was just as nice as I remembered it.

The front desk staff was very courteous as were the repair/maintenance men. One of our room's air conditioning wasn't working well when we first checked in and the problem was dealt with promptly. The one problem is that there is only one air conditioner in each condo (we rented two separate condos), and it's placed in the living room, so you had to keep the door open to the bedroom in order for the cool air to circulate through. Luckily, there were ceiling fans in the bedrooms which helped out a lot.

The condos were very clean, as were the kitchens. Both of our condos had tv's with built-in DVD players in the living room (a huge plus!), and one of our rooms even had a hospital-style tv bolted to the wall in the master bedroom. They have a DVD machine in the lobby were you can rent out the latest DVD releases. Cable was limited, but they had three HBO channels.

We didn't utilize any of the amenities such as indoor and outdoor pools, gym, tennis, shuffleboard, but they all looked well maintained. We stayed during peak season: the first week in August. There were some loud groups around here and there, but we weren't bothered at all. Conventions are held at this hotel and it seems to be the place for large/multiple families to stay together.

The Landmark is a little bit south of all of the 'action' so you do have to drive to get places, but we could get to most places we wanted to go within 15 minutes. We had a great time at the Lautenbachs Orchard Country Winery and Market as well as Gallery 42 just up the street from the resort. The Main Street Market in downtown Egg Harbor is open until 9pm, I beleive, and you can get all of your food and supplies there. There is even an organic food store nearby. The property's restaurant is only open for dinner, so the BEST place to go for breakfast is the Village Cafe just up the street, not even 5 minutes- we went every morning!
Fish Creek is 10-15 minutes up the road, a nice, busy area where all of the shops and restaurants are open later, but it seemed almost too touristy and i'm glad we stayed at the Landmark. Check out a play at Penninsula State Park or a movie playing at the drive-in movie theater just north of Fish Creek. We never miss the White Gull Inn fish boil, ice cream at Wilson's, swedish pancakes at Al Johnson's, and our new favorite restaurant is Alexander's.

The Landmark is almost reminiscent of a Catskills-type resort property with lots of trees, paths, and beautiful vistas overlooking the harbor. We will keep coming back.

  • Liked — home away from home feel, but with many more trees
  • Disliked — having to drive to each destination

What I did not know until I arrived is that each unit and the Landmark is privately owned, so what one gets in one unit is not necessarily the same as in another. We had a 1-bedroom unit in the Flagship building, and it suited us pretty well. The biggeset problem we had was that there was very little storage. It was too hot to keep the comforter on overnight, but if we kicked it off it blocked the doorway. If we folded it and removed it, we had to store it by the unit's door!

Still, our unit was well-equipped and decently comfortable. The bed was less than wonderful, but another unit might have had great beds. It all depends on the owner.

The front desk folks were helpful and friendly. We had to buy laundry detergent at the desk, and it didn't seem overpriced. They were also helpful with the quarters we needed for the machines.

We were nervous about what we'd find at the Landmark because of past letters about a foul smell. We did encounter a bit of a smell as we entered our building. I'd describe it as "smokers hiding in the closet" smell--stale and stinky. But the smell did not follow us into the building, so we were fine.

The Landmark is up on a hill just a few minutes out of Egg Harbor. It's a quiet location as long as there are no drunken rowdies out on the hot tub level late at night. (Guess what we had.) If I were to stay in Egg Harbor again, I would stay somewhere closer to the water; the humid gray skies hid our view of Green Bay for several days. Alpine Inn looked old and a little funky, but it had great charm. Landmark was fine, but it didn't have the Door County charm we experienced up and down the peninsula.

Truthfully, if I were to go again, I'd stay in Fish Creek. There's a lot more happening there, and we wouldn't have to get in a car everytime we wanted to get into town.

An aside: The AAA site showed no vacancies at the Landmark for the dates we needed, but we had no problem getting a room when we contacted the property ourselves.

  • Liked — It was clean and quiet (usually).
  • Disliked — It was away from the center of Egg Harbor, which has a very tiny center. Too much driving back and forth.
